Why not add shouts to replace SWF comm?
Survivors can only point, and wave at each other to come close. Don’t you think they’d be able to call out for each other in order to unite? Even if they’re risking to remain quiet as possible? We know that’s a lie because players constantly make noises on purpose via rushed actions sometimes.
I think devs should disable comms somehow and add a new feature that enables survivors to call out for one another every 60 seconds. The shout covers so many meters. Say 30 meters. Survivors and killers alike will be alerted of where the person was standing when they shout if they’re close enough. After say 15 meters you don’t see where the person was standing, but you still hear the noise of their shout. It’ll startle nearby crows too. Meaning as a survivor you could take a risk to call for friends, trick the killer, lure the killer into a chase, or get caught by Killer altogether because you gave away your position.

distance-based ingame voice chat is something always wanted but devs never

Its like they know what people want and do the exact opposite of that then. Great. Lol

It wouldn't matter if it was added due to the pure existence of discord and console party systems.

It wouldn't "replace" anything though, it would be an addition. You can't exactly stop people from just using voice instead.
I would like more gestures and such in the game though, so that part I agree on 😄

"...devs should disable comms somehow..." Just how would you propose the devs have any influence what so ever on what other programs you are running in the background on your computer that do not directly interact with their program? Programs on a computer run independent of each other and can only interact if the developer of a specific program creates an application interface to allow another program to interact with it. For example if the devs wanted to stop people from using Discord to voice chat while running DbD then the devs for Discord would have to have an application interface that would have a command that disabled voice chat audio. Then DbD could send that command to your Discord client to disable the voice chat audio when the game starts up and another command as part of the game shutting down would then restore that functionality. There's several problems with this though, the first being that the DbD devs would have to put in the send command scripts for each and EVERY voice chat software in existence no matter how obscure. The second would be what voice chat program developer in their right mind would even make that an option in any api they might ever conceive of making for their application? I'm not even going to delve into the untold numbers of other issues there are with this idea as those 2 are more than enough to demonstrate the ludicrously unrealistic expectations an idea like this is made up of.

Well I guess people are going to complain about comms forever then. I usually just ruin anti-team perks on certain killers that disrupt altruism. If you can prevent that you will most definitely win. I had good results with with Deathslinger and Clown with slug and anti-heal perks.

Exactly. It’s a horror-like game people c’mon. You’re telling me NONE of these people have cell phones or walkie-talkies?! Which are ALWAYS utilized in horror flicks... Give the communication device battery life where it could run out, disabling comm for the rest of the trial. That’ll be the price for taking too long as a survivor.

That's the point though, exactly how would anyone disable comms to begin with. Dunno about the other platforms, but on Xbox the party chat is entirely separate from any game, and I believe Microsoft a few years back insisted games they accept cannot screw with party chats in any way.
So how would the devs even begin to disable comms there?

Solos are not allowed to communicate with each other.. they are punished until they create a 4-man-SWF..

I'll never understand people that suggest "devs should disable comms somehow." It's like you have absolutely no clue how this stuff works. Lemme just code something that prevents a friend from calling their friend with their iPhone while they're playing DBD as a team.. They'll get right on that.

They didn't add buffs because stats wise, SWF do not win that much more than solo players. Regardless of whether people want to believe that or not doesn't change the reality of it.

How can devs disable party chat or discord?
