PSA: Do Not Stack On Generators

A lot of players have been arguing with me about this in post-game so I thought I'd do a little numbers break down for those that need reminding. I see many complaints about the speed at which generators are finished, but I also see an over-reliance on a measurably more inefficient method for finishing multiple generators. If the speed of the game and the problems that may surround it are to be understood by both the players and the developers, it's important to understand how the numbers break down.

Stacking up on generators imposes a 15% efficiency reduction to each Survivor for every Survivor that's currently working on a generator. With 2 Survivors on one generator, that's a total 30% reduction to repair speed, which equates to an additional 7.06 seconds per generator. 2 Survivors doing 2 separate generators simultaneously will finish both in 80 seconds flat. Alternatively, 2 Survivors doing 2 generators consecutively together will finish the 1st generator after 47.06 seconds, and the 2nd after 94.12 seconds (ignoring travel time).

If 2 Survivors do all 5 generators together, they take a total 235.3 seconds in repairs alone. By doing the first 4 separately and combining on the 5th, they take 207.06 seconds. 28.24 seconds or more are being wasted on repairs alone by not spreading out and applying pressure to multiple generators at once. In addition to this, the Killer's job has been made easier as they can now apply pressure to more than one Survivor simultaneously. You should only be stacking on a generator when it's important to finish that particular generator as fast as possible (deny a 3-gen, imminent PGTW, final generator, etc.)

Unless you use prove thyself which is pretty common nowadays.

While true the most efficient teams arent bothering to waste the perk slot, as its still less efficient than splitting up. Not only less efficient, makes it a lot harder on the killer

Ya'll shush about this, jeez. It's like you want survivors to live or something.

Don't worry, Discordance, I won't let them hurt you.

There are VERY important facts you are missing. A completed generator doesn't lose regression from Hex:Ruin, Pop Goes the Weasel and just generally Getting kicked by a Killer. So you need to include the calculations for 2,3 and 4 survivors working on a gen and completing verses is it better than 2,3 and 4 survivors working on 2, 3 and 4 different gens and getting those gens kicked or Hex:Ruined. Also, getting middle gens are much more important which the killer can get to much quicker, so you need 2 or 3 survivors completing those strategic middle gens earlier in the game so you don't get 3 gened. 1 person usually can't get a middle gen by themselves unless the killer gets looped really badly.

The thing is, nowadays survivors tend to spawn together and they all just do the nearest gen together. Someone has to give up and be willing to find another gen, but solo players being solo, nobody want to volunteer themselves.

Plus BPs. I think most survivors prefer to give up efficiency to earn coop points, which is one of the main source for them.

TBH I don't care about the penalty. If there's a high priority middle gen I'm gonna rush that gen with or without others. I ain't trying to get 3-gen'd.
