Console Matchmaking
I am red rank survivor. When I play solo queue my teammates are typically green ranks or lower. My killer is also lower. Why am I being paired with them?
Then I play swf with two other red rank friends. Our random is a red rank. Then our killer is rank 20 with no perks, addons, nothing. Why are they going against us?
I stopped playing killer for awhile waiting for the map updates. I got reset back to rank 13 killer. I thought this was the perfect opportunity to try to learn huntress (on console š). All my matches are against red rank swfs, or against full rank 20s who literally have no idea what they're doing (like they don't even know which button it is to run). I think maybe one time ever I got a true green rank match.
I see streamers (on PC) get some poor ranks sometimes, but not like this. Why is it so much worse on console? Any other console players experience this?

I haven't really played killer as of late because it either play with friends or KYF when I'm on DBD, but this was my last game
This is not even that bad. I've had full lobbies of rank 1 swf against rank 20 killers several games in a row. While I do say rank on the survivors side means Jack all anymore. There is a all gap a new player vs a red rank has yet to even understand.

Because no one is playing killer.
I'm Rank 1 on PS4 and I'm getting Rank 15 and 17's killers.

I wonder if we have played together or against.

A lot o people probably aren't playing killer because when they try to learn they get thrown into red rank lobbies. Thats not a fun experience to go at again. So its kind of a what came first question. No killers = bad matchmaking or bad matchmaking = no killers.

It's a mixture of both.
My guy is tired of facing Red Rank survivors as a Rank 13 killer and he stopped playing 4 weeks ago.
He's playing Hunt instead. I get to Rank 1 killer in a day after reset and then I stop playing for the month and stick to PC.

@Liruliniel I was rank 13 before this match. I switched to trapper because I have more experience with him. I knew it was a swf because two of them had nearly identical names. Was not a fun match. š I couldn't imagine how awful this would have gone if I stayed as basically a rank 20 huntress against them lol. I hate playing as killer anymore tbh. Impossible to learn and experiment with them.

On the otherhand, as a r1 killer its nice not facing hit squads every other match. Facing the occasional purple or rainbow squad is kind of relaxing not gonna lie

FAIRNESS

Well it seems all the red rank squads are being sent to low rank killers lol. Simply speaking from the low rank killer and occasional red rank swf standpoint.

Not much better on survivor end sometimes. Just had two rank 18's in my group against a Trapper with NoED who camped his first couple kills. Yep, that was fun. Not.

Ya it doesn't bother me personally because I know I belong at red ranks skill wise for both sides, but I always feel bad for people who get thrown into those situations. I never find it fair for myself to come back from my own breaks and get tossed into this, but imagine a new player legitimately running into this. Why would this make them want to stay? Even tho I personally believe how rank reset and the current safety pip actually make survivors incredibly bad anymore there is a significant difference between a person at red ranks and a new person playing Wraith or the first time without a perk.

@thesuicidefox this happens so frequently. And this poor guy had to take a DC ban. It was a wraith who didn't even understand the cloaking and uncloaking. I feel so bad but like what can I even do. ā¹

Yeah getting low ranks is also hard during solo survivor. I had a game where the killer chased and tunneled me all game and my low ranks team was too scared to do anything so I died because they didn't know what to do. š

Message them with advice honestly. Give them words of encouragement. Really we live in a DBD MM crap storm. All we as more experienced players can do is attempt to provide or knowledge onto the ones who actually need it like that poor Wraith. Provide him with a few useful YT videos and stuff.
I know it's hard sometimes, but maybe it's time we all stop being toxic to one another and help the newer members of our community through the events and poor MM we have today. If this continues it will eventually be the death sentence to DBD. No one wants to play a game that no matter what they get bullied by people who have 1k plus hours when they dont even have 1 hours.

I have an alt account to practice killers like nurse. I went up against red ranks as billy. Matchmaking need severe rework.

We realized he was a baby so we tried to go extra easy. But we had one random on our team who just kept doing gens so the killer quit cause he didn't even understand cloaking and the match was coming to an end already. I tried to message him after but he never responded.

I had an alt to practice huntress then realized I was only getting red ranks so I was like what's the point? And went back to my main.

Yep it's always that one random. I swear it's legitimately always a random who can't figure it out 99% of the time.

Randoms are like half brain dead I swear.

I constantly have this problem. I see a rank 20 killer with no perks go up against fully decked-out purple and red rank survivors who end up earning fewer BP than they spent on the offerings and add-ons they used for that 5-minute match.
My friend was doing the survivor Tome challenge to stun a killer twice with a pallet... two matches in a row he got a killer who stopped playing after getting hit with a pallet. He even offered himself up to be hooked and they'd just walk away. I'm not sure if those killers were super new or just having a bad day, but it's not a good sign when you start seeing players just give up in the middle of a match.

New or inexperienced killers aren't offered any chance to even learn what they're doing and good strategies. They just get dicked on and experience toxicity first thing. Why would that ever make people want to continue playing killer.
DBD isn't a place for new killers. Only for experienced veteran killer mains.
