Chases VS. Deathslinger

Anyone else feel he's lacking counter-play? The ADS time is so short, I'll get hit if I try to dodge because he can just fake the shot and M1 (Most Killers know to do this now). It's almost like VS. Spirit where you have to take a 50/50 guess based on basically no feedback.

I know, I know, just rush the gens against him 4Head. But I really wish Deathslinger was more interactive in chases and got compensated with some kind of mobility or map pressure. Maybe then he would be fun to play against and not so punishing for players who suck at aiming.

Idk, I feel like he's the same level as most other killers. But deathslinger has to play almost perfectly to get kills at red ranks, because the hitbox is the size of a pin and you need to hit at very specific spots during loops to get downs. If you compare him to other killers played perfectly...

Trapper? You step into a trap he placed preemptively and there is no chase at all.

Nurse? She blinks perfectly onto you and there's literally nothing you can do except dead hard if you have it.

Hag? You step into a bunch of traps and there is almost no chase at all.

Shape/Ghostface? You get exposed and instadowned with no warning and there is no chase at all.

Oni is his power? There is almost nothing to do except feed him pallets back to back, if there's none nearby? If he can flick you are going down (and maybe along with the rest of your team)

Spirit? You already know this one.

He has the same counterplay as most killers with active chase power and it's prediction, difference is that the prediction takes place the moment he has clear LOS unlike for example huntress who does the prediction when she has enugh time for a wind up.

I don't see a problem, it's the same as with nurse, you predict where is she going to blink and if you guess right you don't get hit, if you guess wrong you do get hit. Same with DS, you predict if he shoots and dodge before he does and he guesses if you're going to dodge and if to shoot at you or besides you. Just because killer is favored doesn't mean that he's guaranteed to land a hit, that's what makes the chase hard/exciting for the survivor, knowing that odds are against you (as they should) and that you have to outplay him hard to gain distance and escape.

I would utterly hate if he got any nerfs to his power since it despite the popular belief it has counterplay, just the kind that requires skill and a lot of thinking which is something survivors don't like most of the time. That's why they always disliked nurse since predicting what other player does before they even do it is hard and risky. Same reason why I always loved to face nurse.

Don't change him, he's fine and people just don't like adapting to his playstyle that forces them to think.

Never run straight. If he reloads try to get to another pallet. Drop pallets early if you are injured. Crouch at loops just like you would against huntress, though you have to guess when (usually it's when you are running past the lowest point of the loop like on Autohaven). If there's some distance between you just run forward, never wait at the loop. He is a slow killer and running forward forcing him to catch up with you can eat A LOT of time. Corn maps are you friends, just don't run straight. He can be countered but if you don't play him it is hard especially not many killers play him and it's difficult to get used to him.

He’s pretty trash imo already. Quick scope is not always easy. And if you’re ADS-ing and the survivor is flicking around you never hit them. And even if you get some crazy ass shots often you get nothing for it. Even if you hit a healthy guy 18 meters away through a little hole on the wall you only get the injure if you DS yourselt.

Yeah i would promote making him 115%, but adding a short wind-up animation. That's what i said till day 1.

I actually kinda like him as he is, cause his counter is more stealth and pressuring gens rather than being able to run him around. If he were to get a wind up animation or something, he'd become a worse Huntress.

"never rund straight" well then you make a 110% movement killer look like 115% on bloodlust 3 with noed lol

Then you need to practice your running.😀 Some people manage to run forward facing backwards, you know.

The problem for me is most of the game's fun comes from interacting with the Killer. When the proper strategy is avoiding interaction with the Killer in the first place, I don't think it leads to fun games for either side.

Unlike Huntress who can hold her hatchet, he can’t hold his shot. So the best thing you can do is not run on a straight line or remain stationary.

Find LoS and throw a pallet down earlier.

Maybe someone already mentioned this but if not:

Before youre wounded loop him like you do huntress complete with ducks and dodges. If youre between tiles run in zig zag but dont be too predictable, vary the lengths of your zigs and zags

After youre wounded drop the pallet early like clown/fred/doc and if you can do so safely force him to break the pallet

If youre healthy run vaults the same, if youre injured avoid vaults whenever possible.

Hes slow and has no map pressure so if youre not beimg chased be doing gens. Good deathslingers slug heavy to create map pressure so unbreakable helps.

If he can fake the shot and land an M1, aren't you too close as it is?

I have been trying to watch behind myself and react to his shots, but i only pulled a reactionary dodge like once in my whole life. You just guess when he's gonna shoot, and where. That's it :/
