Why Cheryl and not Heather?
I understand that this is a fake name she uses but she is in the entitys realm now, hiding your identity seems fairly pointless? Unless it's the shattered memories version of her?
Small complaint but it's bugging me lol

Agreed, I like Heather. I just figured it was due to something with the copyrights is why they didn't use that name. Similarly along those same lines, I was kinda wondering why not Alessa, haha?

@Nun@Nun_So_Vile it's the more known name for her with fans so it could be copyright issues. I believe there was a legendary alessa cosmetic leaked so we may be able to play as her yet!

It's actually canon. Heather decided to change her name to Cheryl at the end of Silent Hill 3, as she was not running away from anything anymore.
In this alternative universe, Cheryl has since gone on with her life, and was starting a new job when The Entity took her.

I think it's been done like this to celebrate the first three games of the SH franchise: The map is from the first gamr; Pyramid Head from the 2nd; & Cheryl/Heather from the third.
Would have been great if James came, but maybe he could be a legendary skin for someone? Cheryl is certainly very welcome, nevertheless.

I would highly recommend number 2 and 3 if you enjoy survival horrors. They are incredibly fun and the story is really interesting. Number 4 is good but they added a lot of stupid mechanics.

Honestly the map is the best part of this chapter. It really feels like the school from the original. The art team outdid themselves.

Well because Cheryl is her real name so there's no need for her to go by Heather anymore.

At the end of Silent Hill 3 because the cult has been more or less defeated she has no reason to not take back her original name so she calls herself Cheryl instead of Heather

Her name was actually changed to Heather but I do understand what you mean, someone said up above that she had it legally changed back to Cheryl so it does still make sense.
Technically she is a reincarnation of Cheryl and Alessa but I think that still makes her the same person

Heather is the fake name. She's not hiding her identity by calling herself Cheryl, she's using her real name.

She isn't technically the original Cheryl though, I'm sure Harry gives her the name Heather when she is reborn at the end of one but I might be wrong

Harry changed her name only because to procect her from the cult. He didn't changed it because he was bored of the Cheryl's name.

I didn't mean he was bored of the name, I meant in the ending of the first game Cheryl and Alessa join together and are reborn as a newborn baby, which is heather/Cheryl in the third game. I always thought that he jus give the new baby the name Heather so they couldn't find her, which would mean her original name is Heather. I know she is a reincarnation but her name would still be Heather for all her life so far

She IS Cheryl. Heather was an alias that Harry gave her to hide her. At the end of SH3, she remembers everything, and explicitly says she's going to go back to the first name he had given her: Cheryl. When asked if she's going to dye her hair back to black, she says, "I dont know. Don't you think Blondes have more fun?" fade to end credits.

She's Cheryl, because this version of her is from a timeline where the cult is defeated and she no longer needs to hide her identity as Cheryl (the reincarnated split soul of a god).
That said, Heather is objectively a better name so I'm calling her Heather.

She isn't the original Cheryl though. When Alessa give her to him he thought about calling her Cheryl but chose not to because he didn't want to replace her in this way. She is a reincarnation of her but not the original. It's true that she goes to calling herself this and that is fair enough and fits in with the lore.

I was gonna buy the hd collection on... I believe my ps3... but I saw online they are apparently worse than the originals? And didn't get them.
I guess I can only get them on emulators currently...🤔

Heather was her Alias, you get used to her name in SH3, but her real name has always been Cheryl.

They were... Mediocre HD Remasters at best. I think PS3 got at least 'slightly' patched as in SH2, Fog literally got blocked by an invisible sphere around the main character. SH3 had a bug that caused the Submachine Gun to play broken firing noises, and it's entire cast was changed due to legal issues with past actors. SH2 kept it's original VA, but also had a new one too. SH3's was awful. But, I would still recommend them if you've never played SH before. It's an amazing game!
To the OP, Heather was her alias name after Harry defeated Alyssa in SH1 to protect her from the Cult, and she basically went back to Cheryl at the end of SH3 after defeating 'God'. Though, to me, she's always going to be Heather.
