Kinda new, need help with perks
Hello There!
I hope this is in the right place, I am an xbox player that has played the game casually for a while now and I'm looking to make my first decent perk set. I enjoy playing very altruistic, for example I like to play dangerously and help people off of hooks and heal them as much as possible, are there any good perk sets for this?
Extra:
I have the Saw and Stranger Things DLC packs mainly because the characters looked cool but I might buy new survivors if their perks are good.
TLDR: Altruistic perk builds please!

You need borrowed time and were going to make it. If youre close to the killer a lot iron wills not a bad idea either.

@Dead_by_Gadfly thanks man, I'll add them to my list

No worries, of the ones I listed I think the only one youll have to buy is Left for Dead dlc, but I could be wrong youd have to check. I know Iron Will is Jakes

We'll make it
Babysitter
We're going to live forever
Borrowed time

Some good options for you:
- Bond (from Dwight) is a must for altruistic play, since it lets you see other teammates who are nearby. It's also the best survivor perk in the game. I cannot play without it.
- Borrowed Time (from Bill) moves the goalpost on what counts as a safe unhook. For your play style, I would call it indispensible.
- Kindred (common perk) lets you see where EVERYONE is, as well as the killer within hook proximity, anytime anyone is on the hook. Your teammates get these benefits when you get hooked, too. It's an awesome perk.
- We'll Make It (common perk) lets you heal teammates rapidly for a brief window after every unhook. Great for getting people back on their feet.
- For the People (from Zarina) lets you instantly transfer a health state to an injured survivor, at the cost of suffering temporary Broken status.

We'll make it. Empathy from Claudette. Bt from Bill. Babysitter from Steve or wglf from David

Well that depends on if you're planning on doing it all stealthy like after the killer leaves or getting the unhook even if the killer is camping.
If the former, you can actually throw together a pretty solid build for that out of just the basic survivor perks. Kindred, We'll Make It, and Spine Chill with the last slot up to you.
If the latter, Borrowed Time is an absolute must. Beyond that I'm not 100% certain because I don't really play that way. I imagine that after Borrowed Time, you'd just want 3 perks to help keep you alive in the chase after you unhook your buddy. So... Dead Hard probably. Spine Chill and Resilience for faster vaults is an option. Decisive Strike and Unbreakable are another option.

@I_am_Negan thanks for the reply and dangerously is absolutely groovy baby
@Rydog I'll try out the set, thanks for the suggestion
@HellDescent thanks for the set, I'll give it a try

@FFirebrandd probably the latter, thanks for the suggestion

So right now I'm thinking;
Kindred: allows me good Intel for unhooking
Borrowed time: if the running away goes badly
Self care: recovery from the chase
We'll make it: allows speedy recovery for my team mate
Critique?

I play a similar play style to you however more stealthy so I'll just tell you what I use.
Aftercare- A brilliant survivor aura perk for altruism so you can use the info and continue helping your team.
Botany knowledge- A must pick as it's a very solid buff to healing.
Borrowed time- To give your teammates a extra helping hand to survive.
Buckle up- (I know your giving me death stares for this behind your screen) My killer detection perk as it can help with altruism and allows both you and another survivor see the killers aura.
Ranger med-kit with abdominal dressing and self-adherent wrap- A strong item for plenty of healing without downsides.
Hope I helped you fellow altruistic console player (I play on PlayStation).

Self care. The perk takes too long imo and you'd be better off with other perks.
Here's where Inner Strength (Nancy, level 40) comes in. Cleanse a totem for the perk to activate. Hide in a locker for 10/9/8 seconds to fully heal yourself.
That takes slightly less time and helps you counter the commonly used perk Hex: No One Escapes Death.
Aside from that, looks good.

I'm quite surprised that many have failed to mention 'We're Gonna Live Forever'. It's a great perk, and it's David's perk, which, I assume, is a free to play character. Since you're new, this perk will help you gain a lot of bloodpoints. And, someone who is playing this game since launch, the grind never ends. I love playing altruistically too, so there was a time when I used this perk for over a year, scoring extra 100% bloodpoints match after match. Good luck!

Self-Care is a trap. It's the most inefficient way to heal, and there are way better methods of doing it. A lot of new player advice points players to Self-Care, but it teaches you really bad habits that you then have to unlearn once you understand the game flow better. Resist any advice to run it; Self-Care is not a good perk.
Take Bond instead -- it feeds you constant information, and shows you where to go to get healed quickly (or heal others). It's the best healing perk in the game.

As @Doddle28 said: switch Self Care for Inner Stength and you have a solid build. I use that pretty often actually.
Self Care can be good in some situation though. But in most cases it’s better to heal with teammates.
also test every Perk a little on your own and see if it fits your style. Fixated from Nancy is a nice beginner-Perk to see what scratch marks the killer sees from you for example! Use the Self Care or Borrowed Time slot for that.
also try to unhook after the killer has gone away if possible, BT lets some people think they should always unhook immediately after hooking...

Drop self care, run bond if youre worried about it

So many responses, it's hard to thank you all but I really appreciate all the help.
So I have 3 of my perks set pretty well set right now but I just need to pick between Inner strength and Bond, both seem pretty solid but I only have one issue with both:
Inner strength: it needs a totem to start the process which isn't such a big deal but it would mean I'm moving around the map to heal which may screw me over
Bond: requires help from another player which has 2 drawbacks, I have to hope my teammate can do skill checks which in low ranks isn't always the case and I'd be slowing progress on generators if I split with the friend I helped
Are these really issues or am i just overthinking?

Claudette is actually the way to go for an Altruistic player starting out. All 3 of her perks are related to healing, even if some people disagree over the worth of Self-Care. I use it because I don't like the fact that Inner Strength relies on totems.
And yes, I also run Bond. On one of my builds anyway.
I'm also an Xbox player, so I can team up and teach you some time.

Those could be issues but they are not that fatal. Best is to try the perks and play the game. Don’t be too afraid to do something wrong, it is just a game after all and testing out new perks is something I enjoy even after many many hours of playing.
for your Inner Strength issue: the killer is most likely checking gens or chasing someone so you should be fine. Of course there is the risk of not finding a totem or all totems gone, so maybe relying on teammates would be better. I just think that Kindred is enough for that and Bond would be a little redundant.

@PigMainClaudette Sounds good, my gamertag is RyZe AnGeLz If you want to add me

@Mooks kindred relies on someone being on a hook though which is an issue and is supposed to be the minority of the time if I can do anything about it so bold does sound like it has it's uses

Sweet. I have some lower ranked accounts that I'll play with.
I'll be on later, since I have work soon.
