Is it possible to play the Windows Store version and have legitimate legacy?

See the title basically.
As far as I can tell there is no legitimate way to do this as there is no way to share progress between the Steam version, the only version where you can have legitimate legacy, and any other version. Therefore if you play the Steam version and you have a crossplay survivor in your lobby who has legacy it is always hacked, correct?

Yeah, I'd say they are definitely hacked.

He is talking about the Windows Store version of the game, I don't think DBD was in the Windows Store when Legacy was a thing. Pretty sure it's hacked.

My answer was actually for the last sentence lol but I realized people would understand it as the answer for the title so I changed it
