No clear roadmap means DBD could die like in a couple of years?
Last time we got a clear diagram with plans, now we got PH and no long-term diagrams
Considering most of online games don't last long, do you think DBD could die in a couple of years? (No updates, new DBD 2 type released, less players, Death!)

I’ve been around since early 2017, on and off. People have taken almost every single thing to mean the game was dying. Seeing as the fourth anniversary stream said they hit their biggest numbers ever this last year, I somehow doubt it’ll crash and burn now, especially with that graphical update on the way.

This game will last as long as the devs continue to add new content. There is not another game like DBD on the market.
Heck, TLOU Factions has a ton of players and ND stopped updating that game ages ago

They have a clear roadmap - that much was evident from all the plans for future content that they outlined on the stream. They just haven't turned it into a graphic for us yet.

I suppose they just tried to get everything important on the anniversairy stream and had to leave some things out because setting that stream up with all these kinds of restrictions already seemed pretty hard and stressful.
I'm sure they will release the clear roadmap later in a blog post.

In terms of player activity, DBD is literally the healthiest it has ever been. The pandemic has pushed everyone into playing more games.

It could also just simply mean that with the Pandemic and the chaos this has caused for myriad companies, game studios included, that they don't want to over-promise at this point in time, and have another potential round of Coronavirus in the Fall derail some things. Because let's face it, it's not like gamers are traditionally the most rational people.

I thought tlou faction servers were disabled?

On PS3. There's a ton of players on PS4.

This.

OH GOT IT thanks. Makes sense i liked factions on ps4. I bought good amount of perks and anims for it, really fun multiplayer.

LOL, okay, How about no? Do you have more evidence to support your ideas here?

DbD won't be dying any time soon, with how much the community complains about everything you'd think the game was slowly dying since it came out but the playerbase has only been growing.

Nope. The game's definitely not dying, first of all. It's more alive than it's ever been. Beyond that, it wouldn't make much sense to switch to dedicated servers and do a complete graphics overhaul if you were planning on dropping support; dedicated servers cost money to upkeep.
At The Game Awards in December 2018, we announced that we would be supporting the game for at least another five years. That still stands. As long as people still want more DBD, we're ready to keep making more DBD.

The thing is, the higher the numbers the harder the crash. We have seen that from br games when they were the most popular games and out of the sudden it took just another similiar game doing a better job and they nearly died out.
This could happen to dbd at anytime, we simply don't know what is about to get released around a corner to compete against bhvr. What I find worrying is how easy bhvr is taking it. Like, it feels to me as if they don't even consider competitors

Last time they released a detailed roadmap people went nuts with the delays (dedicated servers) so I think that’s what they are trying to avoid now

Just because a calendar might end doesn't mean the world will as well...

I like the Dorito Head update that is coming soon. The last update was good, too. It shouldnt die, devs add good content.

People said for years that Last Year would kill DbD. People thought F13 would kill DbD. If an actual competitor appears, possibly, but so far it's withstood the competition pretty well, I'd say.

I hope the roadmap is other than releasing killers/survs
Since you got some minor power, try to suggest some Innovation to the product owners, like game modes, new items or objectives.
So far DBD risks zero innovating

Why do you think those br games crashed and burned? because they weren't very good games. A game can be popular without an inevitable "crash and burn." Just look at GTA, or LoL or Overwatch. As long as the devs continue to give their best effort into making their game as good as it can be, they'll do fine.

Do we know if we're getting a solid road-map like the last two year? Or are you guys being ambiguous about it so the community doesn't hold you down to dates that could be missed due to unforeseen circumstances? Thanks for any reply at all.

I wonder if they're moving away from new chapters every 3 months. I feel like a graphics overhaul is going to take a lot of people/effort, especially to make it so consoles can handle it.

Why would they remake every map and improve the graphics only to abandon?
That one thing alone is a good sign DbD is here to stay for many more years.

At this point it's going to be absurdly tough for any other game to properly compete with DbD after the amount of content the game has received over 4 years and the large amount of licenses they've pulled into the game.
