Why is this a thing? Game server is biased toward Survivors' action input.

In this clip, I see Claudette enter the locker. I approach and spam the Search Locker button while waiting for the locker door to finish the close animation. My actions should be next in line, seeing as Claudette's action is still finishing up, but no! She gets priority on jumping out of the locker! I spam the attack to interrupt Survivor and thought I had it, seeing as how I started to grab her shoulder, but no! She gets priority on running away without being interrupted! (I did not have the high latency notice appear at all that match.)

Pretty good job so far... 🤦‍♂️

If this is happening often, across multiple matches, and you'll probably argue with me because everyone does when their internet is called out, you probably just have a bad connection tonight.

It's not entirely about latency. Why does the Survivor's input-spam have priority over my input-spam even though her previous action is still finishing up?

    It's obviously latency.

IT can be about latency, on her screen she was probably well away from the locker before you even got to it.

Your right, it is 100% latency. The thing is the server sides with the survivor in latency issues regarding grabs. Grabs require both clients to acknowledge the grab (locker grabs, gen grabs, ect) but if the survivor client doesn't recognize the grab while the killer client does then the server is biased towards the survivor and decides there was no grab.

So in a way everyone in this thread is correct.

Why is it a thing? I'm guessing so survivors don't feel cheated. They let go of the gen, they are running away then suddenly are teleported onto the killers shoulders. Of course this comes with the issue that killers feel cheated.

My Internet is fine and this still happens to me more often than not, especially when I'm Frenzying as Legion.

I think what's happening to you is different, you get denied a grab once, this guy got denied a grab twice, have you ever seen that before? Because I've definitely seen faux grabs but not two faux grabs on the same locker.

I'll say it again incase you don't see my above reply, I know all about faux grabs, but have you ever faux grabbed someone twice from the same locker, or the same gen? I've personally never seen that, but this guy somehow faux grabbed twice on the same person with the same locker, I've NEVER EVER seen that.

It's because of latency, from what I read everyone is correct in this thread we are just talking past each other. When he tries to grab, the survivor runs away and the server sides with the survivor. It can happen 50+ times in a match someone just needs a really bad connection and a killer that wants a grab. Because as long as the survivor client doesn't see a grab the server will never acknowledge the grab even if the killer tries 100 times.

    See, you're not understanding.

This killer has really bad net, have you ever tried to grab the same person twice in the same animation and it fail both times? I haven't, when I fail a grab the survivor is already running away, watch the video again, he somehow manages two false grabs on the same person in the same locker, which I've personally never seen happen

If my "internet is really bad," then where is the High Latency icon in the top left?

From the looks of it the first grab was the special grab when you find a survivor inside the locker which stopped because the survivor was in the process of leaving the locker, and the second grab is the generic grab which stopped because the survivor already got away. Both times the server sides with the survivor because what the survivor client saw and what the killer client saw were 2 different things and the server sides with the survivor.

But that's my interpretation of it maybe there really is a bug or something fishy going on. I'm no dbd Dev.

Funny how the game actually prefers killer's actions over survivors. Their hits will always register as a hit even if it didnt look like much of a hit on the survivors side. So its not the game. Its something more technical idk lol. But dont blame the game or devs for that when you make false statements

The same happened to me, except I was playing Wraith so I even had to uncloak after the grab attempts failed. At this point trying to go for grabs is just a waste of time.
