Kill Switch update: The issue affecting Baermar Uraz's Ugly Sweater has been fixed and the cosmetic has been reenabled in all queues with this update.

The Green Key should have its own ingame model and there are some good reasons for it.

Why does the ingame model of the green key look like the other keys, even though its icon shows that it clearly broke?

The reason I'm asking is: All the keys having the same model has a negative impact on the gameplay.

  1. If a killer sees a key in their lobby, they'll adapt since they must assume that one survivor has the ability to open the hatch. They'll play more aggressive, bring Franklin's Demise and might tunnel the key holder. In and of itself that is totally fine. The key is one of the survivors strongest tools. It allows them to end the match early and puts more pressure on the killer. So there is nothing wrong with the killer adjusting their playstyle to counter that. On the other hand - as a survivor - I assume that I'll stick a giant "pls chase me"-sign on my back if I bring a key. And that's ok. I bring an overpowered Item, so taking that risk is worth it. Now the green key... well... it's nice and all.. aura reading is definitely strong, but compared to a real key.. it doesn't really seem to be worth the struggle. And I think that's why most survivors don't use the green key and even avoid it.
  2. Another reason would be that the green key causes confusion in the team. Imagine you find a green key. You're not playing swf. Your teammates see the key in your hand and assume that taking the hatch is an option. There are just 1 or 2 gens left, yet your team stops working on gens and searches for a hatch that you can't even open.

tl;dr I think, making the green key distinguishable from the other keys could prevent unnecessary confusion on both sides
