Make Pig's Ambush More Spontaneous (solutions at the bottom of the post)

Before I say this, no, I don't think Pig is bad.

As someone who used to main Pig, one of the things that frustrated me the most was seeing a survivor running to a different tile when I tried to dash. Ambushing at loops is arguably one of the most satisfying things to pull off as a Pig, because it feels like something that actually rewards you for skill.

It's also extremely rare to see a Pig who actively attempts to dash at loops, and I honestly believe this is because it's so easy to just deny it by simply running away from the loop. Yes, it is possible as a Pig to predict the survivor running away, and then you can uncrouch to get the M1 hit.

But that's kinda my point. It's just not as fun or satisfying to land an M1 as it is to land a dash, in my opinion at least. I don't think her ambush necessarily needs to be more powerful, and I don't think Pig needs a huge buff, but I feel that her ambush ability should be quicker to activate so survivors can't just leave.

There are a few possible ways to go about doing this, and I'd really love to hear the devs' opinions on them (especially @Peanits, since I know you've watched Scorpionz, so you know what a good Pig looks like).

  • Reduce the time it takes for the Pig to crouch. This gives the survivor less time to realize "oh she's going to dash" and ditch, while keeping the actual ambush mindgame the same.
  • Make it so the Pig can dash while standing up, but increase the time it takes to charge. This would remove the Pig's obvious warning that she's going to dash, but gives the survivor enough time to look at which way she's facing, which makes it an actual mindgame.
  • Allow the Pig to dash backwards by holding S. It is technically possible to "moondash" by holding A or D while against a wall, but fully-free movement would really help Pig's ambush game in higher-wall tiles. (This wouldn't solve the problem of the ambush being too obvious, but it would make the dash itself feel much more streamlined when it comes to mindgames.)
  • Slightly increase the speed or duration of the dash. Definitely not both, but covering more distance with the dash would allow the Pig to punish survivors for trying to ditch the tile. The survivor would also be able to get to the tile's pallet or window if they successfully predict which way the Pig dashes, which introduces more interaction in a chase.

Any one of these fixes (barring the backwards-dash one, which is more quality of life) would solve the issue of Pig giving way too much warning before her dash.
