How does the Syringe work with Deep Wound?

The info for the syringe states that "the effect is cancelled if the survivor changes health state" .

If I were to use the syringe on a survivor affected by Deep Wound, would the syringe:

  1. Still work after they mend themselves, or is mending technically NOT a change of health state (but deep wound is)?
  2. If they continue running instead of mending, and the syringe timer finishes, will they go to injured(syringe only covers deep wound) or full health(deep wound+injured)?

    You can not heal youself or be healed while in deep wound, therefore you can not use the syringe.
