Would a Shapeshifter fit in dbd
Comments

Yes
Absolutely belongs in dbd. I especially would love if it was their take on something like a werewolf killer because honest think they are missing out on using a werewolf but I think they must have something planned creatures wise since I cannot imagine they would make an entire new rig such as the demogorgon without the possibility of using it for later things.
As with any addition there’s the issue around balance and as much as I love shape shifting ability I just don’t see it being the entire ability. Reason being primarily SWF or someone with the same skin it is going to be difficult to really use it unless there are other powers involved. By itself it will be niche and if too fast when transforming can lead to something being unfair but too slow or huge Cooldown could be useless.
I am sure others have way better ideas than me but I think it would be great using a werewolf and maybe only set amount of transformations. Other powers can’t really think of but I believe a good wolf lunge or running could be good or possible when in human form could be used to sabotage things such as gens or places to run and possibly ability to drop key pallets in the area (obviously once or twice depending since it could be very strong) or if killer is able to do this anytime could make it so survivors could repair them. Either way just my quick thoughts but definitely want to be seeing a shapeshifter at some point.
Also don’t give me the reasoning is because the devs said they wouldn’t because they do it all the time to subvert expectations just like how they said we would never see a clown killer.

No
If you mean a killer that could shift into other survivors then forget it. SWF would friggin demolish them.

No
It wouldn't work against a swf group because theyd communicate their actions at all times, and in solos as long as you were a character different than another players, or even just had different cosmetics, you'd be able to notice.

Maybe
Maybe in a special game mode that exclude SWF. Otherwise it's worthless.

No
Probably not as long as communicating with buds is possible.
And the game denying friends the ability to talk might just be a deadly blow to the game.

It all depends on what you mean by "Shapeshifter."
If you mean a Killer that can shift into a Survivor, that would absolutely not work.
If you mean a Killer that can transform into some sort of creature, I honestly think that could work, if it was done right.

I'm thinking a killer that can turn into some creature or a werewolf like @Schlute6969 said in his comment. Because just turning into a survivor would be useless against swf teams. It could have different add-ons, like Freddy's dream snares and pallets, that swap what it's powers are. With a different add on it could shapeshift into a different creature and have a new power. Like a werewolf power with a lunge or some creature with stealth. You could do many things with it. Idk. That's why I made the poll, so I could get some ideas from others on what would work.

In the form of pennywise?

Maybe
I have previously mentioned ideas about a chapter based on The Thing.
As others have pointed out, there could be issues with SWF and communication.
So instead of The Thing, maybe it could be an original concept: the killer can shift in to objects rather than survivors.
The killer could be hidden as a totem/chest/pallet...maybe gens and hooks too.

I was waiting for someone to say that. Pennywise would be a good license killer to do it with but even if they can't get pennywise the idea still sounds cool for more of a creature Shapeshifter
