It's the day of the rank reset and...
... is it possible the new matchmaking system has been put into effect? Since everything is happening behind the scenes I can't see there being a downloadable patch for it. Besides it would be weird for them to reset the ranks today only for everything to reset again sometime this month for the new matchmaking system.
I love this game, but being a level 13 killer makes this game incredibly hard play when I get matched against very experienced red and purple rank survivors.

It's quite possible some if not all of a certain platform (almost certainly PC) would be implemented in the new MMR system.
It's also quite possible nothing is happening until the anniversary update or later.

I thought that too but the anniversary update is only a few days away so again it would seem weird to reset everything again so soon.

MMR and Ranks are not connected to each other. There will still be a Rank Reset, but this is not used for Matchmaking. It is just a number for yourself.
So Rank Reset does not have any impact on MMR or its implementation.

Rank reset seems like an arbitrary relic from the past at this point. I'd rather have the 13th of every month mean something new is changed in DbD. Idk something more meaningful than "this rank that no longer means anything is being reset so you can climb it again for no reason"

I agree. I've only been playing this game for a few months so I'm still very new, but even I caught on real quick that ranks mean nothing in this game. A very experienced player could stop playing for a few months and go all the way back to 20 which makes it incredibly unfair for new players.

Rank Reset would be something if it would actually be a Rank Reset. Someone who was Rank 4 will be reset to Rank 5, currently. This is not really a Reset.
Let alone that everyone and their mother will be in Red Ranks, eventually. The bigger Rank Reset was what kept the Potatoes away from Red Ranks as long as possible.

I think they will use the rank reset to implement MMR on the back end and try to predict the outcome of trials based on their algorithm.

I know they said last month that the new MMR system would be implemented next month, but here we are halfway into the next month and there's been no communication about it. I get this sinking sensation that it won't be ready to go live this month and new players like myself are just going to have to grin and bear the incredibly imbalanced matches.

My rank didnt reset this morning. Maybe they implemented it and ranks dont reset now? Is that a thing? I dont see any announcement though

My rank did reset which is why I was kind of hoping the new MMR went into effect. In my last two matches as a level 13 killer I went up against a team that consisted of two read ranks and two purple ranks, and in both of those games one of those red ranks was a rank 1 survivor, and they definitely played like they were!
I'm halfway tempted to stop playing for a few months so that way I can get matched with people on my skill level again. But with ranks meaning nothing I'll undoubtedly come across other players that are not real level 10-15 survivors.

Yeah i hear that, i get its frustrating. Id be frustrated too. My only advice if you dont put it down is to not take the Ls hard. Just focus on landing as many hits as you can. Practice hiding your red stain. If the person your chasing keeps outplaying you on a couple of tiles switch targets. Theres always a potato, find the potato. Theres no shame in losing, only lessons on how to improve by analyzing what you did wrong.

Peanits said they have been testing it in a few areas behind the scene, what areas these are have not been mentioned for obvious reasons.
When its ready to go fully live they will let us know. They tend not to say exact dates for things like this as unforseen problems can arise and this community has been extremely critical in the past when dates were mentioned and a delay happened.
