Killer PSA, try doing last minute killer swaps
I won’t go into details but if you don’t know yet survivors can tell which killer you’re going to use in the lobby.
It was rare but today as solo Survivor I had a teammate tell me the killer 4 out of 5 games... even without this post people will start to find out and use this more so as a killer I would suggest doing a quick switch with 7 seconds left on the ready timer.
This can be especially critical with certain killers:
Doctor, you’ll notice 2-3 survivors with calm spirit in a lot of games.
Stealth killers like Wraith, Myers, GF, pig you will see more Spine chills. Of course this is somewhat common nowadays so I won’t even suggest people who run it knew who you were, but instead of seeing 1-2 you may see 3-4 each game.
Freddy, a lot of players use OoO against Freddy even if they don’t feel comfortable using it against other Killers. Once asleep it’s free wall hacks for both of you which definitely favors the survivor at most loops.

Ive been doin the last second switch to try to get em to use perks that I know would be useless against whoever I'm playing. They use up a perk slot for calm spirit thinking I'm playing Doc when I'm really playing Huntress.
or even work it the other way around... Take off Ironwill and healing things when they think I'm using Plague...when I'm really using Spirit.
14 -
lol Damn! 3 Calm Spirits.
I'll keep that in mind. =]
11 -
I had a Claudette take No Mither against Oni because she thought the blood orbs wouldn't spawn that way.
She didn't live very long.
29 -
I hope this gets fixed sooner rather than later.
9 -
Those 3 were a SWF, so I'm guessing they didnt type it in chat for the 4th guy. I posted this on a facebook page and got alot of ppl claiming that MAYBE it was a coincidence.
5 -
On the other hand, survivors are taking out one of their four second-chance perks for something useless, so...
13 -
No, it's not a coincidence.
No one runs Calm Spirit, it's a trash perk except for usage against Doctor. =]
6 -
LOL
Right, I always see survivors running Calm Spirit. That was definitely a coincidence, not people cheating or anything.
7 -
Can Survivors do this on all platforms or just PC?
1 -
Pretty sure its just PC, although your welcome to do last second swapping just incase.
4 -
My thoughts exactly, lol. Thats the nice thing about last second swaps, you screw over some cheaters. Ya think if I show em Pyramid head and swap to someone else, they'll take off their DS and BT?
3 -
Yes, and that would be hilarious. Cheaters deserve no mercy.
3 -
Yeah, I do this as well. I consistently queue up as Legion, my worst killer, just to switch to whoever I want to play.
1 -
Excuse me sir. It is not a trash perk.
Hard counters Doc. Soft counters Clown and Freddy.
Hard counters Infectious. Like REALLY hard counters it. Any killer running Infectious when you have Calm Spirit, their build/tactics are completely gutted.
Not disturbing crows is low key really strong. I can't tell you how often I find survivors because of crows flying or landing.
Not screaming when hit can make it really easy to lose the killer in fog or corn. It can also really confuse them if you take a cheeky protection hit. Often they will think they hit the guy they were chasing and will be looking on the floor for a few seconds until they realize what happened.
On topic, I'm curious to know how people are finding out the killer in the lobby.
5 -
1 calm spirit is a coincidence.
2 is a bs.
3 is a conspiracy.
4 is a meme.
4 -
Man, this is just straight-up cheating. That is awful.
Re: @LordGlint's screenshot up above, yea right that's no coincidence -- three red ranks coincidentally running Calm Spirit, suuuuure.
11 -
I don't see it being ran by anyone on my friends list, my SWF, randos.
It's such an uncommon perk to see. Yes it has counters but plenty of people would rather run BT, DS, Dead Hard and well, like Iron Will or something. I'm only pointing out, that @LordGlint 's post is not a coincidence. They were using that thing they use to see what killer they're going against.
3 -
Were not gonna go into the HOW. Honestly, explaining exploits like that is enough to land ya in hot water on these forums.
4 -
Imagine thinking Calm Spirit is only good for Doctor. I ACTUALLY DO run Calm Spirit, on all my survivors, thank you very much.
A lot of the time, it may not be used; but if it's a Doctor, Clown, Freddy, killer with infectious, or a killer with iron maiden, it actually contributes a lot to my ability to survive. Also - you don't disturb crows. A LOT of high rank...scratch that, SKILLED killers use crow movement in the distance as a tell for where survivors are.
Maybe you and your friends wouldn't need DS if you had a perk that actually assisted you in not getting caught in the first place? <3
2 -
They were a SWF, so I had ppl saying that MAYBE they had just gone against alot of Doc's that night. Personally, I alike it to seeing guys with ski-masks and bags of money walking out of a bank. MAYBE they were just really cold and made a large withdrawal...
10 -
lol Nice.
2 -
I'll give ya that, I myself pay attention when I see a crow.
3 -
RIGHT? Even if they aren't there, crows are also HUGE in determining the direction they're moving.
4 -
Still know the amount of calm spirit's Ive seen has gone up DRASTICALLY since I've been doin this though.
2 -
I blame this on streamers. Only in the last few months, streamers and content creators have been doing more "detailed commentary" on their content. Especially with killer strats. Survivors are starting to realize how strong crows are for tracking. Of course, the Doc rework caused an uptick in Calm Spirit as well.
1 -
Because everyone has the same (incorrect) opinion as you. The perk has a lot of value. I run it all the time and I can tell you it makes a huge difference.
Same with Better Together. I start to use this perk recently and found it's actually really good. By showing the auras of the gen you can get survivors to group up on key gens to avoid a 3 gen, and you give information to whoever is being chased so they know where NOT to run. Plus the added aura read when someone goes down can be very helpful in determining whether or not you should stop doing the gen to make the save (a bit like Kindred, but you get the information on the down instead of on the hook which is actually better in most cases).
Second Wind is yet another great perk people sleep on. It's just no one uses these perks because they THINK they are bad. They aren't. You should try Calm Spirit for a day and see what I mean. If you get a Doc or killer with Infectious it is indeed worth it. If not, enjoy being able to run rather freely since you don't alert crows. Good killers will spot them and you can hide a lot more effectively.
0 -
Yeah, I'll try it some day I guess.
You have a good point about the "Alerting the Crows" I get a lot of info that way as a killer.
0 -
It had its moment right after the Doc rework, and yes it counters Doc and infectious fright but that still doesn’t lead to 3/4 survivors running it. If the poster hasn’t faked the Doctor play I’m guessing they would have had zero running it.
I could see people running calm spirit if you faked Billy, Oni or nurse as well since those 3 typically run infectious
3 -
I know right! I like how we did have 2-3 people below your quotes actually defending that it was just coincidence and not the fact that the killer faked Doctor pregame.
2 -
The only way he'd ever get banned for it is if he straight up brags about doing it or confesses he's doing it, did he go in as solo survivor going "put on calm spirit guys, the killer is doctor :)" in the lobby or something? There's a reason the devs seem to monitor discussions about the topic fairly closesly, as they know it's something they can only fix. There's no way to detect and/or punish it otherwise.
And I don't mean anything negative about the devs when I say that. With this particular cheat/exploit/vulnerability/whatever you want to call it, it's the 100% right call to approach it that way. Try to prevent the information from spreading in any way they can until they can fix it, which they're working on.
1 -
Unless he was bragging about it in game or elsewhere, he was banned for something else. There's literally zero way of detecting this. Not even with anti cheat.
0 -
This, I’m surprised how many people are openly popping into lobbies and saying “Legion,” which I guess itself may not even be punishable?
It just ruins it for me though, one of my favorite part of the game is the first 30 second or whatever before you know the killer or even hear a heartbeat... you have to worry Myers is stalking you building his meter right now
0 -
Alot of people will tell their teammates what they find. If you see a Doc, they'll tell em its a Doc so you can run calm spirit. Thing is...some of these teammates arnt exactly thankful that they have a cheater on their team and could very well be reporting it.
2 -
This. It's happened to me a few times. I continue the game out, with bond, and report at the end. I may also accidentally lead the killer to the cheater with bond.
1 -
Right? I dont play much survivor, so I still get spooked easy when I do, lol. Had a game last night where I had no clue who the killer was...but my spinechill was goin off so I just backed up and hid, hoping I could spot the killer and get some bearings. From the other side of the wall, all I hear is breathing from a Myers and I was FREAKED.
2 -
Psh, accidentally toss a pebble at em too while your at it, lol.
0 -
I can confirm. I won't go into details but there are external programs that show who the killer is (Both steam name + if it's doctor, wraith, etc.) in the lobby.
BHVR NEEDS to patch this because it's pretty busted for the survivor.
Also note many survivors are using this to dodge killers they don't like. They whine about long queue times and killers dodging their P3 Squadette 4-flashlight SWF but dodge themselves when it's a killer they might not be able to bully. Hypocrites.
Anyways yes if you quick-switch they won't be able to react in time.
5 -
I mean, why not. They deserve it, lol
0 -
I think the key is to give them a killer they do like, a "weak killer," like Clown maybe. Then last minute pop over to your real killer
0 -
I'm gonna bring the blindness freddy addons instead every game. I'd love to see them use OoO thinking "haha we got him" then realise their mistake as soon as they step on a snare and realise I can see them perfectly but they can't see me at all :D
1 -
I can second this, OP. My Nurse games very mysteriously feature 4 Dead Hards and a Coldwind offering a lot of the time. Less so when I last second switch. The exploits are completely out of control
3 -
Oh I like it!
0 -
The worst part is it's literally come full circle. "Sweaty" survivors often last second switch from Baby Dwight to P3 Legacy Claudette with a flashlight.
Now killers are the one last-second-switching.
2 -
Yeah been going into matches as plague and then switching last second.
See a lot of people removing their medkits after I get in the lobby.
2 -
Ahaha lmao. Well I wasn't up to date but I guess I know what's going on. Well played. Finally some balance and redemption for a year with free kills on dedicated servers and rain of ebony moris
0 -
No there will probably be more people switching last second into ebonies from this until its fixed.
0 -
This is exactly why many of us on console do not want cross play! People on the forum who play PC constantly make it sound like there is absolutely no advantage over console but that obviously isn't true. Stuff like this almost only happens on PC.
3 -
It also blocks you from screaming with Iron Maiden and you don't disturb crows, so it is decent stealth. Used to run it a lot but with the tunnel being so rampant I had to trade for Kindred or BT.
0 -
Growing on playing console games, I can tell you that hackers can do work on those too. Try playing an older COD game and seeing how often you'll get blown up as soon as you spawn in for the entire game by hackers.
1 -
You can dodge ebonies since forever and I'm always doing it
