How come the killer wasn't Claudia?
Okay okay Imma BIG Silent Hill fan and am perfectly happy with what we got Im just curious what made you guys pick someone like Pyramid Head over someone like Claudia? I mean look she has a weapon, she has the mentality, shes perfect for the killer role! Plus it is canon she has control over the otherworld so it makes sense why she'd have something like Pyramid Head's power. I mean look at the video shes so perfect for an antagonist plus shes even the antagonist of Silent Hill 3 the game heather is from! Like I said im perfectly happy with all the chapter we have in fact im more than happy with it Im just curious why Claudia was ruled out or if she was even considered :)

Probably because Pyramid Head is much more iconic. He's the first monster that comes to mind and he's been in the most forms of SH media.
Multiple games and he's in the movies.
Claudia is a pretty generic lady imo
4 -
Pyramid Head is simply more well known.
6 -
Claudia is just a woman. Pyramid Head has a cool design. She's a cool character but PH is much more iconic.
2 -
PH also has more cosmetic possibilities. Homecoming/Movie PH skins are already highly requested.
3 -
Well she isn't just a woman (also tbf Pig falls under the same category) she does have control over the otherworld as its cited Heather goes into the Otherworld at the mall and Hilltop center because of Claudia. She also has some form of telekinesis as she breaks Detective Douglas's leg. And she has some sight powers as she knows when Heather kills her father.
2 -
Well they added pig so thats not the best of reasons but also look what I said above also when it comes to her being generic. However I am happy with Pyramid Head I was simply curious if popularity was the main reason and if Claudia was ever considered.
0 -
When i say generic im referring to her visually. The pig at least has the pig head to look cool.
Claudia is a blonde woman in a black dress/robe she's not very spooky
0 -
What if I instead told you that the reason they did it is because pyramid head is more recognisable and thus would attract more people and thus money.
1 -
Mmm Im not sure I think she has a bit of a creepy factor to her especially since I believe Team Silent did remove her eyebrows just to try and add to that. However we also can't say too much about generic designs since no offense but Julie and Frank do exist
0 -
No I figured Im just wondering if that was the SOLE reason he was picked or if there was more thought into it as well as if anyone else (especially Claudia) was considered in the meantime
0 -
I meant in appearance. Yes, we have Pig, and Julie, and Susie, and arguably Huntress, who's just a really tall woman lol. PH is unlike anything in the game. And like @BBQnDemogorgon said, more opportunities for cosmetics.
I like Claudia, I'm just giving reasons why I think the devs chose PH.
0 -
You make a good point when it comes to cosmetics although I wonder what they could do for Pyramid Head after his Homecoming design is added but its fun to imagine.

To give you an impression of just how well know pyramid head is, my non-gaming friends know who he is, and he's also the only character I remember well from the series.
Just like how they could have chosen other characters for stranger things, they chose the most recognisable ones.
0 -
Actually I think they chose the easiest to use since the others are kinda...children. But I know hes extremely well known like I said all I wanna know is if others were considered and if that was the sole reason :)
0 -
Oh yeah if the others are kids no way they're getting in. Fake child murder is the only kind of murder worse than showing virtual boobs.

Never heard of silent hill or pyramid head. Underwhelming chapter for me personally.
0 -
Well if you're big into the horror scene you've heard of Silent Hill and those are the people DBD is targeted too.
1 -
If im being honest not sure why Nancy was chosen. Robin is more iconic from what I've seen lol I had never even heard of Nancy til DBD yet I knew of Robin and Steve.
0 -
That's because silent hill is one of those *very* well known/great series that hasn't gotten a game in about a decade; it's pretty much a way to guess how old people are if they are aware of it or not lmao.
Silent hill is a classic dating back to the ps1, and was a technical and atmospheric marvel at the time. Ironically the low power of the ps1 forced them to implement ideas that became standard in the horror genre, even in DbD.
0 -
Nancy and Steve were more well known around the first two seasons, when the dlc was made
0 -
Or just like if you like horror games lol I got big into horror games when I was 9 and played some stupid point n click ones on my moms macbook back in 2012 then when I looked up "Horror Games." discovered Silent Hill. Its been my favorite franchise ever since :)
1 -
Wasn't the DLC released November or September 2019? Season 3 of Stranger Things came out earlier that summer in June didn't it?
0 -
Yeah, silent hill will still come up, but actually playing the early ones are ps1 only so not everyone has the will to bother emulating it. Dead space and resident evil are probably more likely to be played, along with the later silent hills that don't feature pyramid head.

Lol I was such a die hard fan I bought a PS1 off ebay just to play the first game but me being 11 didn't know how to do any puzzles so I just gave up.
1 -
You're correct, but the development time was probably before season 3 was released, and the Devs probably weren't aware of how big a character robin would be. I've only watched 1.5 seasons of stranger things so Nancy and Steve are who I know the most.
1 -
Imagine getting a legendary skin that turns Pyramid Head into Claudia 😂
1 -
Omg it'd be an instant buy from me tbh since Claudia is lowkey my favorite antagonist of all time. However the only reason I could see them not doing this is it would confuse new players.
0 -
Yea and it would also look kinda weird seeing her walking around with that big sword of Pyramid Head. Maybe they also would have to change the visual of his weapon. I think the most we could probably get is her as a skin for Cheryl even tho it wouldn’t really make sense lore wise.
0 -
I mean if they wanted to change animations they COULD make Claudia into a skin for the Pig :o
0 -
I have no clue who Claudia is. Pyramid Head is visually iconic and closely associated with the franchise. There's a way better chance of casual or distant fans recognizing that.
It would be like me asking "Why is Leatherface the killer instead of the Hitchhiker?"
0 -
Who?
0 -
Color me surprised, people don't know who Claudia is. I never played the games where she appears and even I know who she is.
TL;DR, Claudia wanted to resurrect God and bring about Paradise.
2 -
Probably because Claudia is in, like, 1 game, and the movie many fans didn't like. Pyramid Head was in SH2, both movies, and Homecoming. Hell, one of the endings of Homecoming has you being turned into a Pyramid Head. Another thought is that he was in the movie, and many people didn't like the movie that Claudia was in. There's also the idea that Claudia herself was never a boss. She just becomes the boss. Pyramid Head stalks you in SH2. In several cases giving James the hope that he and Maria can escape, only to kill her. As far as Heather being from the 3rd game, and Pyramid Head being from the second not feeling like it fits. Well, the map is from the first game. So it's sort of a 1, 2, 3 kind of thing.
0 -
Because Pyramid Head is the most iconic monster in the series, Claudia is just crazy, abusive cult leader.
0 -
Well no not at all actually as Claudia is the main antagonist of the third game the one Heather's from and has more screen time in the game than Pyramid Head has in his own games I believe.
0 -
She like....killed 1 guy.
Her mission was to bring Alessa home and resurrect their God. Pyramid Head is also iconic, and the first monster that pops up in your head when someone mentions Silent Hill.
0 -
Silent HIll 3. She's sort of like....the villain, but like....she wasn't really a villain, she killed 1 guy on camera but that's about it.
She was Alessa's guide, what fused her anger, what brought their God to life.

I thought I read somewhere that each new piece is from a different game, for the SH anniversary or something?
Map is SH1, killer is SH2, and survivor is SH3.
Now if we are making a wishlist of killers to add I want Walter Sullivan. And one of those bat things from downpour.

Imagine someone who has, at best, a passing knowledge of Silent Hill. Maybe they played the first couple games a long time ago, whatever. There is a way more likely chance of them seeing this and going "Oh yeah, I remember that Pyramid Head dude, those games were scary." I'm sure you are aware of how this character is one of the most visually iconic things attached to the Silent Hill series, and how this fact would much more closely align with Behaviour's broad audience intentions.
Yes, this would be like me asking "Why is Leatherface the killer instead of the Hitchhiker?" The Hitchhiker is the catalyst for the events that befall the cast of the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre. He is as much of an antagonist as either of his family members, and Leatherface gained more prominence starting in roughly the 1990s. Someone who isn't deep in the weeds in the franchise knows Leatherface.
Or, maybe even more appropriate and 1:1 -- if they make a Friday the 13th chapter, why not have Pamela Voorhees as the killer? The answer is because Jason is way more iconic and more closely associated with the franchise.

I would've preferred to get the mannequin nurses.
0 -
Mainly because nobody who hasn't played Silent Hill would recognize Claudia.
Pyramid Head is far more iconic and thus more likely to sell.
0 -
But thats the problem. Pyramid Head was never the MAIN antagonist for anything he was only a boss battle. Claudia WAS the main antagonist thats all im saying.
0 -
I'm not arguing about who the main antagonist is, I'm arguing over what an average person is most likely to recognize as being iconic and closely associated with the franchise. Scorpion is the mascot and absolute most recognizable character in Mortal Kombat, but no one would remotely consider him the protagonist in any of the games.
(...now that I think of it, I totally want a Mortal Kombat chapter with Scorpion as the killer, and someone like Sonya or Johnny Cage as the survivor.)
0 -
Ehhhh, trust me I'm a big Silent Hill fan too, but I just don't think Claudia is a good fit. She stabs vincent at the end, sure, and it makes more sense for Cheryl to be the survivor, but she doesn't really fit the big slasher killer bill that Pyramid Head fills. What would her power even be. Just visualizing it makes me feel all eh. I like the thought of the Entity turning James into a killer (Pyramid Head) instead of being a survivor anyway. The lore from BHVR contradicts it but.. It's a crossover man I'm just gonna headcanon whatever the hell I want.
0 -
I mean her power could be the same as Pyramid Head's since she can control the otherworld and monsters.
0 -
Yes but, why her instead of Pyramid Head, when Pyramid Head is the most visually iconic?
0 -
I want nothing to do with the blasphemy that was Silent Hill Revelation 3D ... Rather it be Pyramid head
