Which Chapter would you recommend to buy first?
So, I have several Chapters left out of my collection, but the amount of money I have is enough only for one of them. And I'm not quite sure which Chapter would be a better pick.
The Nightmare Chapter is the last licensed Chapter that I don't have (I also don't have the Ash's Paragraph), and buying this DLC will be way more profitable for me, than buying Freddy and Quentin for Cells.
The Plague Chapter I, basically, need only for Jane's archives and also because I feel like Adiris is a fun killer to play.
The Oni Chapter... I guess having Nemesis would be nice?

Nightmare.
Opinions:
Freddy is a great killer who has the dream world feature and a morph ability. He also has two switchable traps at his disposal. He's versatile. Quentin is one of the worst survivors perk-wise however.
Cursed features a clunky killer and mediocre survivor perks.
Demise contains, in my opinion, the worst killer aswell as more average survivor perks.

Demise of the Faithful Chapter
I would pick Freddy or Oni, because Oni is my favourite killer, but plague is very strong now and has AMAZING teachable perks, corrupt, infectious and dark devotion are all amazing.

Yeah, infectious and corrupt are in a lot of my loadouts, and infectious is a godsend on Oni.

Do Nightmare on Elm Street. Since money is a factor, might as well buy the one you can't use shards for.

Demise of the Faithful Chapter
Plague its a very good killer, got 2 of the strongest perks and Dark Devotion that is great for a lot of builds. Also Jane got some thicc perks
I suggest you buy plague with shards and spent money on the Nightmare on Elm Street chapter, still, Demise of Faithful is the best one.

Freddy is a great killer, tho you'd be buying that chapter specially for him, cause Quentin's perks are kinda eh... but Freddy is really worth it. Also it's a licensed chapter. While it'd take some time, the other 2 chapters can be farmed with Shards, slowly but surely.
A close second would be Demise. Plague is an interesting killer, she can be REALLY strong with some specific combinations. Jane's mostly ok. It's also good to have her so you can complete the Archives.
Oni's chapter would be last. I personally expected too much of Oni when he was announced and kinda got disappointed, so I'm not really using him. Seems somewhat mid to low tier to me. Some of his perks seem good on paper, but overall, none of them are game-breaking. This also applies for Yui.
At the end of the day, choose whatever you like. But as you said, in terms of profit, A Nightmare on Elm Street would be your best bet.

Freddy is a licensed killer. The rest, you can grind for them. Plus Freddy is the 3rd most powerful killer.

Don't ever buy original chapters if there are licensed chapters you are even considering purchasing.
You can ALWAYS earn the original chapters like Demise of the Faithful and Cursed Legacy by buying them with the in-game currency iridescent shards. If you're playing Dead By Daylight on an even semi-consistent basis, you will eventually earn the shards you need to get both characters for those chapters. Whereas you can never earn licensed chapters and they must be bought either through the full DLC or individually through auric cells (which I believe is more expensive).
This alone is a compelling enough reason to get The Nightmare on Elm Street DLC imo. Of course if money isn't a factor and you're more than willing to spend on the original chapters to support the devs and the game, you're more than free to do so, all I'm saying is that eventually at some point down the line you'd have enough shards to buy those characters for free.
