Dead by daylight default difficulty settings

You know how when you load up a game and you are given the choice of easy normal hard etc? Well dead by daylight just throws hard at you weather you want it or not. Alot of players don't choose the hard mode especially if you haven't run the gamut of easy mode.

Take Ebony Mori's as an example. If you've played a game against a killer who brings an ebony mori you will experienced one of two things, either

A. You were the first target it took maybe a gen or two but you fell and are hooked, you're teammates unhook you (hopefully not too soon) but the killer came back for you regardless of the situation you got run for another gen or too and you are dead. Nice score BTW you've just seen the hardest mode in dead by daylight and you don't have much to show for it.

Or B. being one of the other survivors. Not too hard just burn through gens and pray that the killer didn't choose a survivor that just doesn't want to play hard mode. If the survivor doesn't want to play hard mode then three survivors are remaining and the immediate thought that runs through all the of those survivors heads is ,"is this possible?", and "is it worth it?" Most say no and the match is deflated. Making it extremely difficult for that last survivor who stayed optimistic and gets a boot to the face in the end.

The most common response to the fix here is on survivors, just learn to play it you'll get it. And to that I say they aren't doing that and even further they bring in items and play a different game entirely moving away from doing objectives to waiting everyone to die. This is actually BAD for the game. Because now you have alternate mindsets on how to survive hard matches and no way to communicate these plans to each other so there is no coordination and it is a mess. Making the thought, "is it worth it" more prevalent.

Miscommunication and varying levels of player difficulty is what the game was made in mind with. It's an asymmetrical horror game. It's not a meticulous balanced competitive shooter like Rainbow Six.

Difficulty settings are for single player games. This is a Multiplayer game. You are not co-op playing with, or opposing AI controlled bots, you are playing with actual people who have varying levels of skill and strategies. While the devs are working on an MMR system to pair you with more players similar to your skill level based upon how often you succeed, the fact remains that this, in no way, can be compared to difficulty settings in single player games. The best they could do is add Ranked servers and Casual servers, but even then, the difficulty you face in each match is a unique experience because its with players you haven't played with or against yet, ergo it will always vary in level of challenge.

You want a difficulty setting in the options? Play a single player game. You want to play a game where you learn on the fly and get to put your skills and strategies to the test against other players in real time? That's multiplayer. It's "law of the jungle" here, you either get used to it or go back to playing single player games.

Or if you main survivor, Get with some friends, form an SWF group, and talk with them on a VOIP service like Steam, Discord, or whatever the console versions of those are, and then you will have something that can possibly be compared to playing "Easy" mode. I say "possibly" because even then, while having direct communication with your team helps with coordination and gives you a clear advantage over the killer... there are still many hardened killers who know how to deal with SWF. So while you may win more games using SWF, you should never expect to win them all.

Perhaps DBD isn't the game for you if you need difficulty levels.
