A salty statement from a survivor main about the Doctor.
I personally feel exhausted to the near point of DCing the second I realize I get a doctor.
(FYI, yes I have played the doctor, and yes I played before the doctor changes)
The doctor, on top of frequently getting his iridescent add-ons, is just an exhausting person to go against.
He can: Shock to find out where you are, shock to stop you from vaulting or throwing pallets, give you reverse and out of place skill checks, give you the inability to heal teammates before snapping out of it, can shock to interrupt totem cleansing or any of those short of actions, can make you see fake pallets, can make you see clones of himself (Which with an add-on, he can see), and when you're madness level is high, you occasionally scream also, which reveals your location.
Now... Lets take all of that and put it on top of the meta perks (barb, nurses, surveillance, discordance, etc etc etc) how the hell are you supposed to play against him and still go "This is a fun game!"
Meanwhile, the trapper can just put down some traps and the demogorgan can just jump.
I don't get itttttttttttttttt~ it's not fun to play against... it's not fun to play because it feels unfair... I just don't get it. BUT HEY, I'm a salty survivor main :)

Fundamentaly the Doctor is a basic M1 killer with no mobility. The only reason he is considered better than the likes of the Clown or Cannibal is because he is capable of all the bullcrap you are salty about.
And at the end of the day Doctor is a very solid B+. All his madness shenanigans won't save him against a decent team who isn't scared of repairing generators and make him waste time patroling accross the map and destroying pallets.

Im not trying to dismiss your entire argument, but you come off as trying to exaggerate doctor and down play other killers. Trapper can hold m2 for a second and shut down an entire loop, and if you dont look down during chases then game over. Demo can get so many hits that other killers couldn't because he leaps at you from 10 meters away, along with the fact that he can teleport across the entire map in 3 seconds. Any killer can sound strong if you describe their power in great detail, and don't focus on their weaknesses.

It would make sense if he wasn't the same speed as the rest of them, but he is also 115%, on top of being able to block your pallets and vaults...

I love playing as Doc. I don't mind playing against him unless they play scummy.
3 -
What do you mean play scummy?
0 -
The proxy camp tunnel off the hook type. Unfortunately too many Doc's play that way.
7 -
I get what you're saying, but with re-vaulting, you just can't. And in situations where it's revault or go down, what do you do? You can't.
0 -
i think you don't have to force yourself to re-vaulting just running is the best option because doc get slowed down when he's shocking it give you time to run to other loop place than forcing yourself to juke in the unsafe place, there's many spot when the doc can't hit you and force him to just use m1
and i think main problem with the doctor is how he can guard 3 gen forever
1 -
Interesting.. why's that??

It's a 1v4..killers need tools to fight 4 players at once..plus swf needs to ge taken into account..
0 -
True... but it's just too much....
2 -
No it really isnt..especially when the skill checks and such are mostly gimmicks and are only useful sometimes..static blast is his map pressure tool, his shocks his chase tool..which do require proper timing to get the most use from, trust me..doc was my first killer i ever played..and I've faced him dozens of times..he is exactly where killers need to be on power..now he has a lot of gimmicks because hes all about chaos do it fits him , not every viable killer will be like him..but the bones of his strength are what are needed
4 -
I 100% agree. Doctor is my LEAST favorite killer to play against.
3 -
SWF are exhausting to play against
2 -
Docs ability has so many uses for the only downside being slowed. Although his entire existence is uno reversed by Jake mains bringing calm spirit

The thing is though that Doctor, as a pressure killer, is DESIGNED to be annoying. It is his identity as a killer.
And I wouldn't call these forums "killer dominated", but they certainly cry more than survivors do. I'm personally in the middle, not favouring one side over the other.

Annoying is literally his thing. I find a lot of survivors refuse to play around static blasts cooldown though. It's regular, dodged by closets or avoiding terror and often doctors are very predictable with it to boot. I tend to dodge more static blasts than ever hit me. It's not like you can get surprise shocked, you usually know immediately it's a doc just by the sound of his terror radius so even the first and ESPECIALLY the first should never hit anyone. Completely bypassing doctors massive cooldown main pressure and hunting ability effortlessly makes him imo easy to play around. Doctors tend to have a very bad time if multiple static blasts hit nothing and you should be making sure that happens. Lazyness is pretty much what doctor exploits and boy are survivors lazy most of the time.

Just run calm spirit, lol.

I think that I've been around here a bit longer than you and I can say that it just depends on the patch as to who's complaining this time. It also depends on a lot of circumstances within the game.
Recently there was a whole string of anti-NoED threads, right after the whole "Second chance meta that I don't want to adapt to!" and before those were the stupid "FREDDY REWORK OP!!!!1!" threads. Both sides have their moments, but it's like I said in that killers are a bit more vocal about it.

I cannot stress enough how neutral I am with my opinions. And I've experienced it first hand, every time I criticise Hillbilly, who annoys me infinetly more than Doctor.
As for NoED, I've always hated it. It's a dumb perk and is an outlier in how it operates.

I feel you. Made Calm Spirit one of my basekit perks after the archives had a few doctor-challenges, made my life easier. Also counters Billys and Onis with Infectious Fright to some extent, I'd recommend trying it out if you haven't already. :)

I used to really hate Doctor, to the same point of wanting to DC. I took me a long time but eventually I changed my mindset when playing against Doc. I have to play very defensive, more cautious than normal and use a lot of lockers to avoid the AoE spell (forgot the name).
Honestly I find Freddy worse with his invisibility/dream crap. And I absolutely hate Wraith just because I think invisibility is BS and it seems every other wraith I get either camps and tunnels or just rubber-bands to hook (pretends to go away for 3 to 5 seconds only to come back).
1 -
He's only super annoying on The Game map.
At least on any other map with medium pallets you can still go around, but if the Doc chooses The Game, then you're forced to camp the pallet or keep running (likely in a deadzone) which either way will lead to a down.
In any other map, you can still try to play the pallet against him by running around the other side and baiting it. Oh, he's also BS on the School, Saloon and Hawkins but those maps do not have good pallets to start with.

I was waiting for this comment. I knew it was coming at some point.
0 -
If you hate him so much, you should run it, as it negates his static blast.
1 -
I think everyone is trying to defend how it's possible to beat him, and I never said it wasn't possible... I said playing against him is exhausting, makes the game unnecessarily stressful to the point of it not being fun. And aren't we playing a game to have fun?
0 -
It makes no sense if you say its exhausting. To play vs the Doc MUST stressful cause he´s the Doc you know ?...and about fun.. you must learn how to counter a Doc. Point ...i mean you are the salty one so deal with it
0 -
Considering it's a matter of opinion, I can say whatever I want lol
He is MORE stressful than the other killers, is my point. To the point of wanting to quit because it's not fun...
Maybe you should re-read the forum...
0 -
Ok so are you just venting or do you have an idea to make him less annoying or did you decided to run his counter perk?
0 -
I mean I was just making a statement lol. I thought old doctor before rework was fine when he had to switch to his power. It made him also have to be a little strategic..
0 -
oh man...dude ofc you can say what you want. I can say too, but on this point it brings nothing. When finally you check it ? I told you, to play vs a Doctor must be stressfull and there are alot other ppl and they have fun to play against him, cause they know how to play vs Doc. He is like stress and terror thats a fact. His chasemusic also sounds like dramatic, stressful and terrorlike and there is a reason why. I think you complain about him, cause of his red add ons.
0 -
Cough. Every single one. Cough.
0 -
Not all. I don't, and Doc is one of my mains. But yeah, it's definitely a solid majority.
1 -
I see...Welp I've never gone against you then. All the doctors that I go against are the scum of the earth.
0 -
Its a waste of a slot, and only good against one killer. It's a bad idea to run a semi useless perk.
0 -
What do you mean only against one killer? It works wonders against killers who have IF.
1 -
I never go against if.
0 -
Even if you haven't, that doesn't mean there aren't killers using IF. I've met some and I personally use it on Billy and Oni.
1 -
Yea, true.
0 -
As an observer of the dbd scene, even when I watch doc he does seem pretty annoying but didnt bhvr make him with the intention to be a very annoying killer. Though hes also a very different killer and that should be OK.
0 -
100% agree with this
0 -
He's supposed to throw a bunch of afflictions at you and make you go insane. Whether or not you find that fun is up to you. I find him fun to play as because of his power being able to shut down Survivors (getting to play as him is one of the reasons I bought this game after a free trial back in 2017, he's that fun to me) and fun to play against because he requires you to play differently.
You don't have to revault. Just continue to run the loop. Shocking slows him down by a lot, so if he's spamming it, then he'll keep losing distance and extending the chase. If he gets you, then it's because one of you played the loop correctly or it was unsafe to begin with.
0 -
He never said you can't say something. He said it makes no sense. It's ironic that you then tell him to "re-read the forum..." while you yourself read something wrong.
Also, as to what you do if you must revault? I'd say that means you're at an unsafe area, like an L-T wall. If you don't want to be caught in a situation like that then maybe you need to get to a window you can actually try to play. Shack, for example, has an easily loopable window granted you know how to mind game a little bit. Even if you say "well there's nothing on the map!" then that usually means that the survivors dropped all the pallets too early and had their resources whittled down too much.

Another survivor player complaining instead of adapting. What a surprise.
0 -
If they took out his aoe cast, gave him a 10% vault boost to his combat mode and a 10% pallet break to his track mode he'd be perfect.
0 -
Im usually poor against the doc but i have the most success of prolonging the match with my duo buddy if we just knuckle down and do gens
0 -
How is he exhausting? They changed those add-ons.
:P

Yes, Doctor has been solidly less fun to play as and against since his rework even though he probably performs "better" according to a kill standard. Sometimes, I really just can't understand why the developers make the changes they do. If a killer does poorly but is amazingly fun to play, and the someone want to change it so that it's incredibly unfun but extremely effective, don't do it.
The above sentiment is basically my same opinion about Nurse. Still very strong, but has decreased in fun (compared to her previous self and other killers, so that amounts to an objectively less fun killer) for all players. I say that because I've not had fun in matches against Nurses, of which I've only had 4 (significant decrease from before) since her changes, 2 on Lery's, all of which resulted in all survivors escaping with barely any hooks or no hooks at all (save one Meg who died after being three-hooked on Lery's).
I used to play a significant amount of Nurse (around the same time spent as Hag, Huntress, and Hillbilly, and I guess Doc too), and now, she's down at the bottom of killers I'd ever want to play, right above Doctor.
In essence, I'm all for Doctor changes because I don't like how he feels to play rn and I really don't like the chase music I'm forced to listen to. It feels like the devs decided to just highlight the most boring parts of The Doctor in the rework: preventing survivors from doing things, brainlessly revealing positions basically whenever The Doctor gets the hankering for it. I mean, it tells quite a lot about how healthy he is when the only add-ons I seem to see when facing the Doctor are his Iridescents. Sure there are add-on combos that are run to just make the Doctor experience more miserable for survivors, but other than the satisfaction of gifting a survivor with monotony and lack of agency, it isn't that much fun to do.

the vast majority of survivors I play against as Doctor will super greed on pallets to the point I can shock them and catch them up in a singel loop. I learned playing as and against doctor you sometimes need to drop a pallet right away even if his not that close, Its better to "camp" a pallet then get hit
0 -
Bruh are you even listening? How can he run calm spirit and still get his ds/in/dh/adrinawin? Obviously Doc is just unbalanced and needs a nerf. Jeez.
