The break pallets/gens challenge is broken as hell

As in title, sometimes it counts every break and sometimes it just doesn't count at all, giving me literally a progress of 2 even though I broke maany more pallets and maany more gens (Duh), it's so random and it makes the whole thing annoying as hell ... I remember someone saying on these forums that Hex Ruin counts towards the challenge, yet for me it doesn't ... What is even going on with this challenge !? Did anyone else experience this ... thing ?

I'm not having problem doing it. I noticed that Surge counts for the challenge making it easier, if it can help.
