[PSA] How the event works
This is what I've ascertained so far, please post any corrections you might have.
- A pedestal spawns on the map at the start of the trial.
- Once a player interacts with a pedestal, or after a certain amount of time passes, that pedestal will disappear and a new pedestal will appear somewhere else on the map.
- If a survivor escapes with the crown (symbolized by the golden particle effect), they will unlock the crown cosmetic on that character.
- If a killer completes a trial with the crown (again, symbolized by the golden particle effect), they will unlock the crown cosmetic on that character.
- Escaping with a crown rewards a small amount of BP (I think 500 BP). Completing a trial as killer does the same.
- Only one pedestal appears on the map at any given time.
- Although anyone can interact with the pedestals, crowns can only be acquired by non-licensed characters.
FAQ
- There is no limit to the number of pedestals that appear. Everyone can (potentially) get a crown.
- "Completes a trial" means that the trial ends without the killer disconnecting, regardless of the result of that trial.
- "Only one pedestal appears on the map at any given time" means that there's one pedestal which disappears if someone interacts with it or after some time passes, then a new one appears and the same thing happens. It does not mean there's only one pedestal for everyone. It is possible for everyone to get a crown.
- Crowns do not "drop" if survivors are hooked or die. You cannot lose your crown once you've picked it up.
- Killers cannot acquire crowns by killing survivors with crowns.
- The Wraith cannot pick up a crown while cloaked.
- If you're not sure which characters are licensed, check the wiki: Licensed Characters.
- If you've acquired a crown as a survivor and the killer disconnects, you will get the cosmetic.

I've seen more than 1 person glowing at the same time so I'm not so sure about the 1 pedestal per match?I saw both a Bill and a Leatherface glowing (from the crown of course).Edit: I think I misunderstood your post. Somehow didn't see the "reappear" part. Sorry!

I didn't say one pedestal per match, I said one at any given time. Meaning that if you see a pedestal, that is the only pedestal on the map. When it disappears, one pedestal appeared elsewhere. Only one pedestal can exist.

It's not per match, just at a time. So one pedestal is there, someone grabs a crown, it disappears from that spot and reappears elsewhere with crown for someone else to grab.

Yes, he can still interact with it. But he can't acquire it for his character.

i still dont get how you get them as killer. i still dont get why they made it so complicated with the killers u can and u cant and the requirements. but i do get aht is a lot of grind again. (as usual)

You interact with a pedestal, like survivors do, and then you get it once the trial is over.

So in other words, theoretically all players could recieve a crown if none die by the end of the match?

Indeed.
You cannot get a crown by killing a survivor, nor do you need to. Like I said, once someone gets a crown, it will reappear elsewhere.

I'm not sure I like the mechanic with the crowns. So only one survivor or just the killer can finish with a crown? That makes me think survivors will screw over their teammates not doing gens or going for hook saves. They'll just take the crown and hide. And as killer, I'll feel bad if I'm taking the only crown in the trial that can be earned.

No. After one person gets the crown, it will appear somewhere else on the map.

multiple can get the crown. once the pedastal is interacted with it respawns elsewhere.
also another thing to note for @Orion It seems that there is a 100% chance (outside of bugs) for one cake to spawn, with chances of more spawning being somewhat common. they also spawn in mystery boxes occasionally.

Ok, it sounded like once the crown respawns elsewhere, someone else could interact with the new one and steal the effect (kinda like capture the flag).
Does anyone know yet about how long the particle effect lasts before you have to get a new crown?

just one pedestal? for real? i got very lucky and spowned nearby one. and played just rushing gens meanwhile one fella got tunneled all game. so sad story, anyway it should spown more so everyone has chance to get it.

Why the hell do killers get to walk in to get a crown but survivors in the game have to escape with a sweaty killer half the time.
That makes no sense and its stupid

At least make it so that survivors get to keep crowns even if they die.

Is it possible for the killers/survivors to "lose" crowns (by killer getting stunned/survivor getting hooked) like how getting hooked with a lantern would return it or do they stay on a survivor till they die and killer until the trials end?

If the Killer DCs, does anybody get to keep their crown? It'd be pretty messed up if the Killer could just DC and deny everyone of their crown.

I'm not sure. I've only had one killer DC early (the highest score was something like 6k, 5k of which was just from escaping) for seemingly no reason and nobody had gotten to a crown yet, as far as I know.

Why I get 2 times the crown from pedestals and kill 2 surv/2 esca per and I get the cosmetic with the hillbilly, then 4 kill with spirit, get only one crown with spirit but not give me the cosmetic? However bad farm event, searching crowns losing time in game.
