Simple way to fix matchmaking - character ranks

It makes no sense that I'm the same rank playing a level 35 character as a level 1 character. Ranks should be tied to individual characters. Decide your character before you begin matchmaking. (optional: matchmaker refuses to put two of the same character in a game. Stops swf teams from being identical.)

Then in the matchmaking: fully prevent players from being matched more than 5 ranks away from them. Matches with high disparity of ranks are inherently unfair and should not affect players' ranks. If people want to play with their friends, they can play characters who are closer in rank. If you only have rank 1 characters and your friend is new? you don't get to play with them. You don't get to either ruin the match for your friend by having it be too hard, or ruin the match for the killer because you can literally run circles around them.

I'm sick of disgustingly unfair matches as killer, I'm sick of swf gangs being reds and a yellow, I'm sick of killers outclassing me because someone on my team is red rank, I'm sick of not being able to play killers and survivors that I've newly paid for because they're too weak to win at my rank. I'm sick of all of it.

I'm in support of the concept, but there does need to be a global rank for each role that will drag up your lesser-played characters. Playing Trapper or Dwight up to rank 1 but then being able to drop back into brown/yellow ranks with Wraith or Meg would be even worse for the balance. Sure your less-used character wouldn't be as loaded up as your primary ones, but the skill and game knowledge you developed during the initial rank climb would still transfer over.

I think giving each character an individual rank to raise/lower based on how much you use them (or how well you use them) would be fine. Then a global role rank could be added which acts as a rank floor for all other killers/survivors that you don't play as much, probably lagging about 6-7 ranks behind your highest ranked characters.

Picked up a new character that you don't know how to play yet? This dual-ranking system would allow you to start with them in high green/low purple ranks (if you were in red ranks). Having a bad time in the red ranks? Play a different character that you don't use much for a while and also enjoy slightly lower-ranked matches for a while.

It's something I'd love to see for the killer role. Not sure that it could be fairly implemented for the survivors though.

Sure, the matchmaking is still broken, but in my opinion it doesn’t make sense to compare character levels or how many perks they have.

You give a „red rank“ killer the option to play without perks so he can destroy new rank 20 player or same on survivor side. Or what’s when a new dlc is released?
