is pop obligatory?

Member Posts: 206

like i am playing with demo recently and even if i end chases every like 20/30 seconds, the time i have done like 4/5 hooks, survivors have done all gens and i can't do nothing so i'm asking which one is the right one:

-i am that bad that i can't even get a kill

-pop is obligatory

-game is unbalanced

it's not a bait it's a serious question.

obviously it's not like this every game but i would say 7 out of 10 games are like this

i don't have surveillance LUL. so slow down perks are essential. thanks a lot

Surge is good, along with some other perks like corrupt intervention.

You can also try and use perks to end chases even faster so you don't even need to slow gens (because hook pressure).

If you’re playing a standard M1 killer, some kind of slowdown is often necessary. Either you slow down the gens or you snowball, and Demo isn’t particularly good at snowballing.

It's such a good perk if you're confident enough in your skills to down some survivors. It's great with BBQ or Thrilling Tremors.

what about surge + pop? you m1 someone and stop near gen, then with shred you see which gen are they working on, travel there use pop and start a possible chase

    "-game is unbalanced"

    Yes.

People have done the math many, many times. If the survivors don't waste time, split up and just do gens you literally don't have the time even with sub 15 second chases when you add in pick up, carry, hooking, travel, search time, etc etc.

Bar some off scenarios, every 1 second you use, is 3 seconds the survivors have on gens. That's assuming you are chasing 1 survivor. That's why even a measly say 15 seconds of pick up, carry, and hook time which may seem minuscule is literally more than half an entire gens time...now multiply that for each downed survivor..with 15 second chases even.

This is also before you even throw in the multiple second chance perks on all 4 survivors....

The time for each sides objective isn't even remotely in the same ball park.

Pop is a really good slowdown perk but only if you're getting use out of it, which is really up to you. If I have pop active I would make sure to patrol gens check which has the most progress (within the allotted time of course, some maps are too large to traverse back and forth so you just gotta pick) and then you kick that one.

In that time if you see a survivor, it's better to let them go and run to safety while you have pop up, even if they're injured because what may seem like an easy down can all of a sudden escalate into a 3 minute chase and you lose all of your pressure that way. Prioritize kicking gens when you're running pop especially when it is active, even if that gen doesn't have that much progress on it kick it anyway. It'll slow them down and that's what matters

I had the opposite problem playing Clown a couple days ago, it was one of my really really good matches and I was finding and securing downs so quickly I never had the opportunity to use pop because I was bouncing from chase to chase and finishing them really quickly. That's a good problem to have because in those instances, the pressure of your presence alone is enough to slow the game down, but that's not going to happen every time and it's certainly not something I would bank on.

the last one: Game is unbalanced

The better you are as killer, the more Pop will help you dominate. Myself being a killer thats average but plays survivors often enough to know their tricks, I can't say I should be using Pop, but if you're a Entity-tier Nurse player why the heck wouldnt you take it?

    Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    aaaaaahhhhhhhh....

    Kachow!

(Of course you could always get Clown if you've got enough shards. Bamboozle is a good chase perk and Coulrophobia can be used to add even more pressure in anti-heal builds, and hopefully he gets buffed a second time in the future because the one change [which was significant I won't lie] was not enough, there's enough attention on the character that I think it's reasonable to expect more changes for him in the future.)

i have 3500 shards at the moment, if pop doesn't POP OUT in the shrine i'll buy clown, i even need bamboozle for legion (my first main UwU)

I will never play another killer game without pop and corrupt in my build.

Basically yeah, that's why people run them, especially Pop. They don't solve the problem, but they do make it less busted...but it's still busted.

The game is unbalanced, but I don't think pop is obligatory, you can run other perks

Overall the game is balanced around slowdown perks not base speed. It's funny how much easier the game is now that I can run builds like Ruin, Surge, Pop, Surveillance.

Slow down is pretty much mandatory if the survivors are moderately capable of holding m1. Ruin tends to be the big one for me, if it stays up my split pressure style works. If it goes down having a backup plan helps though isn't as strong.
