Is it just me or does the Executioner feel heavily unfinished? REWORK incoming?

My theory: Candyman should have been this chapter's killer but they pushed him back to autumn due to the movie being postponed because of Covid-19.

So they just took the killer that was supposed to come out in autumn (Pyramid Head) and released him now.

He just feels so unfinished though: His cage mechanic feels not right, there's lots of bugs (cage instead of execution when it's possible, BP issues, emblem issues, etc.) and the fact that they don't work like hooks feels not well thought out in my opinion and can be abused to tunnel survivors heavily. Also, tons of perks (BT, BBQ, Well make it, DS, Dying light, etc.) don't work with cages. I think they needed more time to address all the issues.

His ranged attack is also very clunky. It can't go over gaps, holes or different heights unlike the doctor's shock and survivors can abuse that on certain maps like the Lab especially or any other map with stairs. This doesn't feel right and unfinished.

What do you think? I think like he will get a rework/adjustments in the following PTB or a patch after that that will address all of these issues.

I've been on Xbox and I've only played against 2 Pheads in the past 3 days. That's pretty bad for a new killer, i've played against more Deathslingers than him. I never see the new survivor being used either, makes me think this chapter was very poorly executed, I've heard everyone hating on the new map too. I'm all in favor of new content but lately it seems they can't get that right either, I feel like they need a new strategy in terms of creating new chapters...they need to start asking test groups of players like the big names of streaming who would have to sign a NDA etc to see if they would think it would be a good idea to add certain chapters into the game, because honestly since Stranger Things, the chapters have been pretty lame. The Cursed Legacy DLC wasn't bad but the previous 2 chapters have brought more useless perks into the game that no one cares to use really...

I don't think he'll be reworked. Also konami have probably forbidden them from nerfing his powers into the ground for no reason, which is why they had to nerf his ass size instead.

You think it's funny not being able to hit survivors on stairs or through holes on the floor with your attack? You think it's not just a "last minute decision" to make cages not work with any perks? He feels really unfinished and I bet he will get adjustments in the future.

I think he needs some kind of buff but the reason his attack doesn't go over gaps like doc's shock is prob because the shock doesn't damage the survivor, Pyramid Head's attack are spikes coming out of the ground so using it on a window on the 2nd floor and downing the survivor whos already on the other side and falling wouldn't rly feel or look right. As for the emblems and the bugs i agree but the chapter has so many details i don't think it was released early at all, all of the hits to silent hill the new map is full of detail and has amazing totem spots, overall look of the characters is good doesn't look unfinished. The bugs are prob due to coding his power which is 1 of the more complicated ones its not like wraith who just goes invisible etc. Emblem system they can always change and make it so it works better but considering Plague's is still busted i don't think that will happen. And hopefuly no candyman cuz personally i just find him boring

I believe it was never intended for the ranged attack to go up inclines, or over gaps. It's already a great zoning tool I don't think it needs any buffs. Except maybe inflicting torment on hit.

Oh, I thought this would be about the lack of bloodpoints for cage interactions.

Yeah, he seems to be a failed design. If a Pyramid Head does not tunnel, it is fine, but it is so easy to tunnel with him. This "The Cage spawns far away" does not matter at all, if you go down in the Center of the Map, the Cage is not far away. And as long as there is no Survivor next to the Cage, Pyramid Head should make it.

In general, it is quite strange that a lot of Perks dont work with the Cages. Like, surely this goes for every Killer that some Perks dont work with them, but not so many.

Also I think his Ranged Attack is as flawed as it can be. The counterplay is not really there, because he has no delay when faking his power. So when vaulting a Window or dropping a Pallet, he can use his Ranged Attack, and if the Survivor fakes it, he can use his M1. Thats...eh. And because his Power is also telegraphed AND has a long-ass cooldown after using it, faking is better than actually using it.

And I think this should never be the case with a Killer Power. Like, Freddy can fake his Teleport, but it is also insanely beneficial when he just uses it. Not so much with Pyramid Head.

And when it comes to BPs and Cages - I dont know how they though that instead of 1000/1500 Altruism Points, 550 Boldness would be a thing. Not only is it a third of a safe Unhook, but it is also Boldness. Which is the easiest Category to fill up. I opened a Thread about it in the Feedback Section, because it should be the same as for Unhooks, and someone wrote that it is most likely less because it is (or better: should) be safer to rescue from a Cage than from a Hook. While I can agree to that, there is no reason why I should be Boldness.

So yeah, I hope they will go over him again. I can see the potential that he can become a Killer where players might want to DC or kill themselves on the Hook, if they end up on a Hook being tormented, because this means that Pyramid Head will most likely have an easy time. And I would like to see this not happen, because in general I like his design. But it is really flawed.

The fact that his power can be exploited by stairs is not okay.

    They don't care for feedback.

If you watch Scotjund video, the one he says he's taking a break, he mentions something about telling the devs beforehand the new map was bad.

Which makes me think they got feedback from the map, and chose to ignore.

This is every PTB and DLC released. Everyone commented on how bad the map felt, the fact PH was weak and how abusable he is. Yet, no changes. Deathslinger was slated for how low pressure he was, and how he lacked real strength, and not one single piece of feedback was taken into account. The only thing that ever changes from PTB's is Perks and how they work. Usually getting worse than better.

To be honest, the only reason i'm playing as him is to counter DS (Mainly) and BT. I love to punish survivor's bold play where i normally can't with other killers.

Also, it feels great that most of the survivors will play much safer when facing him than with other killers because they know he can punish them. (No more save in front of me, etc.)

The new map is one of the best looking maps I've ever seen and I hope the Devs make more maps as gorgeous at this one. However, the game play on this map is a nightmare.

Are we talking about the rites of judgement or punishment of the damned?

Either way its not very problematic that his power doesnt work on stairs. On the tractors on Coldwind if you charge your attack and release as you approach the top you can get survivors as they vault.
