From my experince, 80-90% of the time PH would go to the cage.
whats everyone's experince on that? It was rare for a PH not to head toward the cage after they sent them to it.
I've read some people saying only a small % or only a few do that. But from my playing experince id say 80-90% of PH headed to the cage. I think thats why they changed it.

Most were going right to the cage because most of the time when they arrive the survivor was just recently unhooked and gave them an easy tunnel (no DS). Only really skilled players weren't doing it.
It's good they removed the aura.

Would be a nice quality of life change if they added a notification when the survivor was rescued similar to a regular hook.
That way the killer will know their last location but can't preemptively go there.

There is a noise notification when a survivor is rescued from the cage. I played a few PH games earlier.

I haven't experienced that myself, but I know of quite a few cases when people have played The Executioner that way. It's still a very time-deficient way of playing him. Maybe the changes will make for better playstyles.

Oh in that case ignore me lol, I've not tried him yet. But I am looking forward to trying him out, this change wouldn't affect my playstyle. I rarely used the cage, only when DS becomes a possibility or when they can be mori'd.

Wait really? Before the hotfix there wasnt any noise notification. At least from my experience.
Guess that was another bug

There was this from the 4.0.2 patch notes under bug fixes:
The Executioner: Fixed an issue that failed to trigger a noise indicator when a Survivor is rescued from a Cage of Atonement.

I just want them to make punishment of the damned slightly more viable
