Bad game design...
The game design is a bit flawed. The best ways to win for either side are the most un-fun ways, with respect to both perks and tactics. It's to the point where the community has to make its own rules for the game.
"Don't gen rush."
"Don't tunnel."
"No keys."
"No Moris."
"No camping."
"No slugging."
When you feel the need to go out of your way to comfort or let your opponents off because you feel bad about a game's inherent design, you have a flawed game on your hand. You should be able to do what you can to win without feeling bad, but that's not DBD.
A large part of the problem lies in that 4v1, survivors have a big advantage, but, as soon as it becomes 3v1, the dynamic changes. So the killer is incentivized to get one of the survivors out as fast as possible or to slug. You shouldn't have to rely on perks like BT or DS or rely on tunneling or ignore survivors who've been hooked because you might ruin their experience.
