I agree with you and I believe a ton of "this game is Survivor sided and Killer feels miserable and weak" arguments come from this mindset where people consider anything less than 4k a massive loss and eternal shame for you and your ancestors.

If your referring to me, I'm not a killer main. I play both sides. I just never feel pity for survivors so I look forward to being merciless. If that makes me an entitled 4k killer then I'll accept that.

Yesterday I had a game with zero hooks vs four rank 1s and 2s immediately folllowed by a four minute 4k against yellow ranks. They both actually felt more like no contests rather than win/loss so I didn't feel bad about the "defeat" or good about the "victory".

If I look back on games, the most enjoyable ones ARE the ones were I kill 2 and 2 escape. Those are the ones that feel like matchmaking was working as intended.

You also often need to slug for 4ks and that's no fun for me, nor the survivors. I'd rather "lose" than bore everyone.

Depends on the survivors. If some flashlight clicking, dead-try-hard tool makes it out but I killed off their obvious newbie SWF who basically runs right into me, it doesn't really feel like a good outcome regardless of the numbers.

But if I kill one cocky person and 3 escape, that still feels like a win.

Objectively it's a tie, personally for me it is like this:

2k as a survivor with me escaping and pipping = win

2k as a survivor with me escaping but not piping or dying with pipping = tie

2k as a survivor with me dying and not pipping = loss

2k as a killer with me pipping = tie

2k as a killer with me not pipping = loss

Like many people, I feel 0k is a bad loss, 1k is a loss, 2k is a tie, 3k is a win, 4k is a pretty good win.

What constitutes a win, loss or tie aside though, usually a 1 or 2k feels frustrating because it usually happens when I'm having 20 second chases but the gens pop anyways. So I do not think it should be the golden standard for balance.

If I'm constantly having extremely long chases against survivors cuz they know what they're doing and gens are going, then fine its a loss against decent opponents.

If I have a very tight match but then make a mistake that costs me the endgame, then fine. I made a game losing mistake.

If I lose against survivors who can't even give me a chase for a few seconds solely because their objective is in my opinion completely menial and extremely quick with a modicum of coordination, then the loss just feels frustrating.

Balance should be, in my opinion, providing the tools for both sides to outplay the other skillfully so that the better side prevails, regardless of whether or not they win consistently or lose consistently.
