Why is this community so aggressive?
Not only do people send angry messages in the game, but everyone attacks each other in the forums. I’ve never been part of such a salty and angry community so I’m just wondering why??? It saddens me to see people being so mean to each other. Like you can’t even voice your opinion without someone attacking you for it.

Because despite shat people proclaim its a competitive game and competitive peooke can get nasty

most of the problems in this game wouldn't be anywhere near as bad if the majority of the community wasn't the epitome of toxicity.

Is any PVP game community known for kindness? Genuinely curious. I think PVP games naturally bring out the worst in people as having fun requires you to beat your opponent which -as a result- reduces THEUR fun. PVP games are basically a battle for fun so conflicts and some aggressiveness is just normal I suppose.

Playing this game enough can put you in a bad mood, and then there's your typical trolls too. I think it comes with the territory of PVP.

I've played PvP games my whole life and can tell you that in every game where you pit player vs player there will always be toxicity. People are naturally competitive and direct competition can bring out the worst in some people. It's just like how you see ######### talk in sports, or any game with a voice chat feature.

Actually, the FGC tends to be pretty nice.

Seconded. That said, I feel that the online only aspect of it tends to be a lot less wholesome than the local in-person scenes. I'm sure thats not a coincidence.

Because the sides aren't even (yes, I know I'm stating the obvious, I know the game is assymeteical), the developers refuse to clearly define an in-game victory condition that actually works (right now we only have pips, and it sucks), and all of the broken things that someone can bring into a game isn't reflected in the scorecards. That gets coupled with the terrible matchmaking, general salty PVP attitude and a healthy dose of "I DS'd you so you MUST have tunelled me" and "I got my 1 facecamp kill so I won" mentality to provide the perfect melting pot of misunderstanding, where everything is subjective and the developers worship extremely basic statistics and refuse to take into account the large, glaring details that HEAVILY skew them.
Seriously, my highschool stats teacher would have backhanded me from here to the next town over if I blatantly ignored so much data.

LOL that last bit had me laughing. But yeah you make some good points. I just wish there was a little more kindness, that’s all. It seems so often that it’s easy to be mean while being nice takes effort 🤷♀️

Because people suck. People hiding behind the anonymity of a screen so more. Add to that years of frustration with the game itself. Balance and bug issues and the like. And people get pretty angry.

It’s just a bunch of wild savages.

At this point I don’t know if the game keeps breaking me or the people who play it, either way I usually stop playing after I hit level one. So many other amazing games to play~

you just get to a point where you remember that you're voluntarily subjecting yourself to abuse. Thats not what games are supposed to be about.
2 -
because the most important people who played the game were really toxic back in the day and some of them still are, lots of poeple copied them so is what it is.

Humans and internet... Everyone thinks they own the truth.
Also it's a game.. Most of the players are still immature because of age

Additionally to that comes the protection by online anonymity. It is the same in every online PvP game with any competitive gameplay like lol, DotA, r6s, rocket league and so on.
As soon as people are save from any repercussions except angry verbal retaliation, they vent their anger and frustration and let it rip. In in-game chats, voicechat, on the individual forum or reddit.
This anonymity is the basis for all toxicity online because I think more than 50% of the toxic people online would not show such behavior in real life. Or their upbringing might have been rough.
