Microsoft store - Steam; Crossplay

Guys, a friend of mine wants to buy Dbd on computer because Crossfriends will be coming to consoles as well. So the question is...: Is there any difference if he buys it on the Microsoft or on the Steam platfrom? Does he need to have it on a specific one so he could play with me (I am from Xbox) in the future?

He should get Steam. It's way better in terms of content and it's mostly universal, with the exception of Origin, Uplay, and GOG.

Steam is better working platform but Microsoft Store might have more games now and in the future for possible crossplay between PC and XBox than Steam.

Microsoft store is a terrible platform all around. Steam is just better in almost every way.
