They used to be that way. You'd be able to tell what killer you were facing at the start of a game by looking at the hook.

They used to have this, but changed it because you could tell who the killer is instantly, which is particularly hurtful for stealth killers.

They used to be, but it was changed because the hooks instantly identified which killer it was and removed the element of surprise. Especially not good for stealth killers...

The Game already tells you which killer you are facing in the loading screen.

Nah, thats lame. I mean. Not a fan of charms. I mean is the pole made of bone or metal? What color is it. What does the hook look like. Is it serated or chiseled with anythong? What color is it? Is there anything going around the pole/hook like vines or blood vessels? Maybe flesh? Theres a stupid amount of opportunity here to customize hooks, basement and items with cosmetics that are bought/earned znd its being missed

Should a stealth killer care if the survivors know they verse a stealth killer? I mean, a stealth killer is supposed to be stealthy and unseen, right? :D

I only see killer tips when I play killer myself. Never saw it when I played survivor. Maybe a bug? Idk

They used to be killer themed but then it would give away the killer especially stealth killers it would put you immediately on the look for them like when you see a pig box

Yes. Part of playing a stealth killer is that the survivors don't know that I am one initially, or where I'm coming from. If you tell them instantly just by showing them a hook, then there goes a huge part of my early game. There is that allure of the early game of them not knowing who or where you are, and it's also the scariest part of DbD for me, and as soon as I know who the killer is, I've already formulated how I'm going to adapt my gameplay in order to survive more effectively. The longer that I don't know who the killer is, the more paranoid I get and the more likely I am to make a mistake.
And for someone who's been around for about two years, and loves horror with an almost unnatural passion, that's saying something about the power of a killer's stealth ability.

Just saying it would really suck if you were stuck in Tier 1 as Myers because the survivors knew you were trying to stalk them before they hear the sound cue.

Just subtle changes that you wouldn't notice without paying attention. Change LF hook to a meat hook. Stuff like that.

I still think that it'd be too much of a giveaway to which killer you're versing. Maybe if it was a separate cosmetic option, just like Head, Body or Weapon then sure. Just not a default thing.

If you make the hooks reflect the Killer then Survivors will specifically go out of their way to check it. They did back when the hooks worked like this.

When you get past a certain amount of hours in the game, they will stop telling you which killer you are playing against. It could also be whatever rank you get past as well I am not sure but they do go away after a while so you won't be able to tell who the killer is. Hooks should not be made based off of who the killer is it completely removes the fear factor at the start of the game.

It's still the first time you face that specific killer, I can be in purple ranks and it'll still tell me it's the newest killer if I haven't faced them yet.
