What the Hillbilly change should have been.
There's been a lot of discussions about the "minimal" change to the Hillbilly. Majority of the community thinks the change went overboard. A portion of the community thinks this was an appropriate change.
I think the change should have been something in between. A compromise. The instasaw and crack-billy needed to be changed. Some think Billy's basekit was fine while others think it was not. But if the power needed changing I think it should have been something reasonable, not a slaughter like it is now.
So this is my idea what Hillbilly should have been:
Power:
The chainsaw has 3 charges. Everytime you start a chainsaw sprint, one charge is consumed. If you rew the chainsaw for 10 seconds, one charge is consumed and the rew is interrupted. One charge takes 5 seconds to recharge and recharging pauses while rewing. If all charges are consumed the charges are replenished at an increased rate.
Add-ons:
Junkyard air filter:
Increases the rewing limit by 2 seconds.
Puctured muffler:
Reduce the regharge time per charge by 1 second.
Big buckle:
Adds 1 charge. Recharge time per charge increases by 1 second.
Engravings (both yellow and green):
Same as before.
Speed increases do not stack.
Charge time addons do not stack.
Mother's helpers:
Adds 2 charges. Recharge time per charge increases by 2 seconds.
Black grease:
Slightly decreases the charge time.
Charge time addons do not stack.
Tuned Carburetor:
Moderately decreases the charge time. The chainsaw no longer breaks pallets.
Charge time addons do not stack.
Pighouse gloves:
Increases the rewing limit by 5 seconds. Charges no longer recharge until all of them are consumed.
Lopro chains:
Considerably decreases charge time. Removes 1 charge. Decreases the rewing limit by 3 seconds. The chainsaw no longer breaks pallets. Charge time addons do not stack.
Iridescent brick:
After maintaining a chainsaw sprint for 2 seconds, gain undetectable until you stop sprinting.
There you go. No longer instasaw unless you want to use UR addon with many penalties and no longer crack-billy. No longer unlimited rewing and camping with it. The overheat animations made for the chainsaw could be used when the rewing is interrupted.
I don't play Hillbilly very much but have played him enough to get the trophies and then some. As a 65 % survivor I never thought facing basekit Billy was a problem. I'm saying it again: the only problem was the instasaw and crack addons. There's probably many flaws in my ideas, but I'm just trying to describe that at what scale the changes should have been.
Now I know writing all this and posting it here is futile but I'm just hoping that the devs would learn what reasonable changes are. I'm afraid for Huntress. And then Hag. Why didn't the Nurse and the Hillbilly get the Spirit treatment? Appropriate amount of tweaking without killing the potential. I don't know.
