Technician Buff

I was thinking for a while that there are quite a few perks and add-ons that reveal survivors by changing a generator's aura, but there no way to stop this on the survivors' side. With this in mind I want to propose the following buff for Technician:

Technician prevents any generator's aura from revealing your location to the killer. This effect only applies to you.

You are probably wondering what this means. Well there are lots of perks and add-ons that would change the gens aura in different ways, so ideally Technician would work in different ways for different perks and add-ons. Here's how I want Technician to work for the following perks and add-ons:

Discordance: If two people are working on a gen, the perk will remain red.

Surveillance: If you work on a gen that's affected by Surveillance, the gen will remain white.

Gearhead: The gen will remain red if you hit a good skill check.

Thrilling Tremors: If you are working on a gen by yourself while the killer picks up a survivor, the gen remains unblocked and the gen will turn white like a blocked gen.

Dead Man's Switch: If you let go of the generator last, it will be blocked but the gen's aura will remain red.

Wraith's All Seeing Spirit and Legion's Fuming Mixtape: While repairing the gen, the gen's aura will remain white for as long as you are repairing it.

I think that's everything that affects a gen's aura, but let me know if there's anything else.

One important fact to know about this perk is that it only works on the person with Technician. If three people are working on a gen Discordance will work, if there's two people on a gen Thrilling Tremors, Surveillance and Gearhead will work, and if someone else lets go of the gen last they Dead Man's Switch will reveal the gen's aura. This encourages players to repair gens on their own, similar to how the noise reduction only works when repairing alone. Of course if there multiple people with Technician then they can work together without fear of being revealed.

I know that this is a long and complicated post but I think that this would be a great change to Technician as it is consistent with the perk's theme of working on gens without being caught, while giving it a much needed boost to the perk's power, making it a more appealing choice.

The thing is that it's really not? When you start the game the perk is locked behind Feng, so unless you randomly pick Feng as your first survivor you won't have access to this perk. By the time you do get access to this perk it's likely that you are already good enough at skill checks to not need it.

Plus there are perks that are good for beginners as well as experienced players. Bond, Sprint Burst and Windows of Opportunity come to mind. Why should Technician be only good for new players while being near useless for experienced ones?

I had a similar idea for Technician, but instead it blocks your own aura from being read.

Technician is kind of a stealth perk, but it shouldn’t to the point where it completely removes information from the Killer.

If it doesn't effect other people working on the generator then there is no point pretending it helps with discordance. I'd let it work for other Survivors on the same generator.

How it works is that Technician acts like you are not working on the gen. So if you and one other person are working one the same gen and you have Technician then it acts like one person is working on the gen. Therefore Discordance won't activate. If there is two people working on the gen without Technician then it activates Discordance. So it does help with countering Discordance when working with one other person but not with two or three, unless they all have Technician.

That is a good idea but the thing is there are so many things that block auras like lockers and certain perks. However they is no way to counter perks that change generator auras so I feel that my change would help give the perk its own unique identity instead of being another perk that blocks auras.

Plus with my version killer's can still see your aura or deduce that you have Technician so they know that they have to keep an eye on you so i wouldn't say that it'll be too overpowered.

I was thinking that technician should remove all generator sounds until you stop working on it (it will retain sound stage from curent progress). So if you work on it from the beginning, generator will go from 0 to 100% without a sound. (Repair and Piston sounds) Completely silent.

And if you start working on it while it has some progress, you will prevent it from increasing the sound of generator completion. So if you start working on it when its 20%, you will go to 100% with the sound of 20% completion.

I think all of that would make it extremely op.

Make the percentage to prevent failed skill check notification affected by luck. That's one thing the perk needs. (I would also like it to reduce skill check fail penalty if any dev's reading this....)
