Do you think we could ever see licensed characters in the Archives?

I know that it's a lot of trouble to go through, but do you think it could happen?

I'm really not sure. On the one hand it's going to be very difficult to put in challenges for things you have to buy, in a pass you have to buy to get real rewards. That said, when has BHVR ever been concerned about pushing players to spend too much money on nothing.

On the other hand, they're doing 4 original characters per pass atm, and that's going to cause them to run out very fast, and have to repeat characters (when they've already shown they can't make enough unique challenges without recycling across different tiers) or rerun passes altogether.

    I mean it's not impossible.

But you'd have to REALLY shove master challenges with Licensed DLC in the furthest corners of the levels, wouldn't be surprised if practically all the required challenges to get to epilogue was just normal challenges and I'd have to go out of my way to get to the master ones.

I don't see the point of using licensed characters. Sounds like a lot of troubles and the archives was basically made so they could go more in depth about their original characters.

What would they do if they made a tome about Laurie and Michael? Wouldn't they basically just write the lore from the movies?

Maybe for Ghostface; R. J. Torbert has so far been pretty cool about the mask license.

And since DBD's Ghostface is technically an original character (using a licensed mask) they could actually tell a story or two about him without infringing on an established story.

That said, the devs have been pretty consistent in saying they don't want the Rift to feel pay-to-advance.

If they were any challenges that required you to play Ghostface it'd kinda go in the face of that.

No they would not, again its licensed so if they add anything to a licensed character like another outfit or something without the right holders permission then they would probably get sued. Unless the devs get permission of the licensed characters rightful holder, then you will see another outfit or something for that character/characters.

Yeah, most probable is GF. Challenges will be only requiring using his perks (available in shrine) and those will probably not be required to complete the tome (is that the correct English term?)

If they add cosmetics, they need approval but maybe they still have cosmetic options for GF they didn’t reveal as of now..

There were two answers to that:

    One was a straight "No".

The other was that IF they ever feature licensed Characters in the Tome, you would not need the Licensed Character. So I would assume, even if they would add a Tome about lets say Quentin, you would not need to play Quentin or any of his Perks for the Challenges.

But I guess, we will simply not see a licensed Character in the Tome at any point, and I think this is fair, since players would be forced to spend money at this point.

There was a survey a while back that had a question asking which character you'd like to see an archive on and the only licensed character there was Ghostface. So I imagine he's the only licensed character that could get one.

With the other licensed characters, why would we even want an archive on them? They're pretty well established in whatever they come from.
