Hex totems are a pain!
Every time I try to use Devour Hope, it gets destroyed before I can even get three tokens! To be fair a lot of it has to do with placement of the totems. The last match that I played had the hex totem sitting out in the middle of the map in full view for everyone to see. 😕
I know hex totems are high-risk, high-reward, but I think I'm about ready to give up on using hexes all together. They're too easily spotted, and with a hex like devour hope, it needs to be up and running for a good amount of time to be useful. Otherwise it's practically guaranteed that it's not going to last.

I gave up on Totems pretty quickly. Definitely a high risk high reward item but I swear The RNG hates me because it was always No Reward for me :D

Same! I've been trying to use devour hope ever since I unlocked it and so far I haven't been able to use it once!

Totems are very gimmicky ... If you aren't specifically playing around totems, that is, playing with the intent to patrol totems and not gens, or running Spirits perk that makes false totems expose the survivors, then there is no real point in my opinion. I rarely use them.

Yeah there's a reason why I hardly ever see a variety in the hexes that Killers use. It's practically ruin and maybe one or two others.

Maybe it's a PS4 thing but I see Devour Hope get to atleast the instadown if not all the way to mori pretty often. I don't know what it is in red ranks but the people I get matched with ignore all totems, even if it's glowing right next to them. If I don't go through and clear totems at start I know I'm going to get hit with Devour Hope or NOED. 😂

They should not light up, this will force survivors to break more dull totems.

Problem with Devour is that if its too hard to find like on some of the new or indoor maps its becomes insanely OP

Actually I'm on PS4 too but I haven't been that lucky.😕

I've been using The Third Seal a lot lately. It does a lot of great work but if it's destroyed it doesn't change up my play style any. I've found using hexes like ruin or devour always get destroyed and aren't worth it but some can make a huge difference without actually making a difference to how you play.

Yeah they're so inconsistent most people won't even bother. I only run them if I feel like rolling the dice.

Third seals sooo underrated

I know right? Especially on the indoor maps

Yeah it can usually cost a hook state or 2 before it gets got too. Everyone underestimates it, survivors included. Plus it counters quite a lot of pretty powerful perks like OoO and Kindred

I find Hex perks a waste, outside NOED. Most maps have terrible spawns, so it's a waste. I don't like going in with only three perks against sweat squads.

What does the third seal do exactly?

While on paper that may sound like a good idea, can you imagine getting to the end game and noed has activated, and yet there's no way to tell which totem it is because it's not highlighted? Hex totems not highlighting would be an absolute nightmare for survivors.

It makes it so they can't see auras after getting hit by a basic attack, so no aura of Survivors on the hook and it counters bond, aftercare, empathy, not sure about OoO, but it renders all Survivor aura reading perks pointless.

With OoO you can still see them, but they cant see you. Thats why its REALLY good on fred since Object screws him so hard

That's why they should ignore gens now and again and search for totems, or break them when passing them as I have seen some survivors just ignore them completely. I do think a totem counter should appear next to the gens left, available for all survivors and killers to see, if it did happen though.

Good to know, I haven't faced an OoO while running it yet.

Any survivor who takes a hit by your standard attack is blinded - can’t see auras. If they don’t pay attention to hook notification bubbles, they won’t know where to go to rescue their buddies who could end up losing hook states (assuming they’re not SWF on comms). This will also negate perks like Bond, Kindred, etc until the hex breaks. Kinda like playing from inside a locker!

That does sound useful!
