What is the general amount of ranks you should drop after rank reset?

I went from rank 4 to 5 has it always been this minimal?

    It hasn't always been this minimal no, you used to drop more. Right now you basically drop one colour down...I personally prefer the older rank reset but I'm getting used to this one.
