An Idea for a Stealth reveal Mechanic.
So I'm a big fan of the Grudge, and Insidious, and this game. And I got to thinking to myself....
"What other ways can you make a ghost scary in a video game"
And I was like hmmm, you know that slow creeping fear that comes to shock when you see Myers staring at you....thats pretty spooky.
And I thought, you know what'd be cool. Is if a ghost killer, Similar to how the Wraith works, had to reveal their stealth in order to attack a player, but instead of a Gong Gong going off....it did the following,
Doc has ghost clones right? That being said
Lets say we had Kayako from the grudge right. Shes fully stealth, and in order to attack people she has to get out of stealth, but what makes hers interesting is that her getting out of stealth takes a charge bar sure BUT
As she's breaking out of stealth picture this from the survivors point of view.
A survivor is working on a gen and suddenly hears GARGLING, and a clone of Kayako, not the real one, slowly walking toward them, or peeking their head over a wall, or slowly creeping up behind them remeniscent to those scenes in Insidious where the audience sees THERES A MONSTER RIGHT BEHIND YOUR HEAD OMG but the character is oblivious. Obviously this game is controlled by the audience so they're going to immediately react.
But in the case of it being a video game, that little ghost clone that they see as the killer is revealing their stealth is a fake, and the killer can use that little jump scare to their advantage as they pop out of stealth to land a hit. That is to say, I could be standing in a doorway, and watch you work on a gen, I unveil my stealth and you see a spooky clone crawling across the ceiling down toward you and decide to run in my direction not realizing where I was and my bar finishes channeling the reveal and OOPS you're right in front of the real killers face!! (not that you would think a killer climbing across walls would be the real one but just saying for spook factor). And you could give this stealth reveal an effect radius similar to the killers terror radius. But you don't have to use a terror radius, it could be similar to the way old freddy used to operate or Huntress where they hear spooky sounds or minor Gargles within 32 meters of the killer. But that radius is specifically for stealth clone reveals and gargling sounds that get closer as you get closer to a survivor, similar to a terror radius but no heartbeat until after stealth is broken.
You could have these stealth clones do anything, reach an arm out and touch a survivors hair, reach across windows, stick a head through a window and slowly climb through it, pop out from under the ground, decend slowly from a roof, flash in an out just within view of the survivor on a rock or something just to mess with their heads, all within visual range of the survivor. Or you could even have survivors see the wrong image of a clone near another survivor. IE 2 people seeing completely different threats "HEY HE'S BEHIND YOU", "Dude there's nothing behind me, he's behind you!"

That sounds like old Freddy but more interesting, but it depends on how they do it, could be cool. I love the original Grudge movie or Ju-On as it was called in japan, it was so creepy, I'd love to see that license in the game.

One can only hope

That gonna bring more bugs onto dead.

They stack bugs on top of more bugs, it's a shame the community has let them get away with all the bugs they let stay in the game but don't pause dlc so they can put more resources towards fixing bug.

"Hold x to lock onto survivor and spawn a clone" - a combination of doctor and old freddy. I dont see how'd it bug out a lot.
"Survivors in clone's field of vision / clone's target is affected by debuff for x charges/seconds (if that clone applies a fear/madness effect)" also possible.
The problem are the spooky animations, as animatio locking survi ors is a straight stun effect which could seriously be overpowered lol.

Well if the spooky animations work a bit more like Doc's clones, they won't cause any camera locking or anything like that.
The premise is to spook the survivor based on their camera angle, that is to say if they're looking a certain direction then the ghost or whatever will offer a scare toward that direction.
Note that this power is for when the killer is coming out of stealth. So imagine the same amount of time it takes Wraith to uncloak, these animations and visions or sound effects are taking place until the killer is revealed and normal red stain and heartbeat take place.
Basically adding FX and scare factor to the killers terror radius. For balance purposes, you could even make it so that the killer can't see these aboritions and ghost FX. Or you could make it visible to both survivor and the killer almost like a semi tracking. Ideally though, it would work better if the killer was FULLY STEALTH, no footstep sounds, no grass movement, so that just like wraith you have the element of suprise and can reveal yourself, but without the obvious directional tell of where you are since theres crazy stuff going on and false images, and spooky hands reaching through the window.
You could even take it a step further and adjust the killers animations while vaulting windows to have the same animation as the false spooky effect.
I mention the grudge ghost as a place holder effect since there are elements in that film and many others that utilize the same type of scare tactic. And it works!!

Ohhh makes way more sense, i was under the impression that the survivors would be locked by the clone in a short animation , like getting healed by another, i think i got distracted by the "runs finger through your hair"-example.
If IdV can do a permanently invisible hunter, I think dbd could manage, especially since dbd killers are comparably simple.

One can hope, I love stealth killers, and love the grudge, if it ever came to DBD, I'm dropping my wallet immediately.
@Peanits Would this not be spooky?!?!
