Hag IS top tier. I play her at rank 1 and almost never get looped
Anecdotal at best. Just because Hag works for your style doesn't make her universally great,
Seriously, everyone here says Nurse and Billy and Huntress cause you get a far better return on the effort you put into them.
The very notion a handful of people say Hag is great is in itself like a niche. Hag is off the charts good for those of you willing to put in all that damn work. I'm not taking anything away from you I'm just saying to more people they can do more with Nurse, Billy and Huntress. Their kits are more accessible, their application serves more purpose.
Hag is definitely top tier. She can use her traps for map pressure, breaking loops, jump scares, screwing up survivors, and distractions. She's a lot harder to use properly compared to Billy, probably even Nurse too, but when you do use her right she is really strong. She has probably the best defensive tactics in the game. I don't think Huntress is as good because she can't keep map pressure or break loops. Huntress has much better offense than Hag for sure, but when you can just run around the shack or pig tree that offense means little. Hag can stop those loops by just putting a trap down. And while she could do that before too, if you didn't have fast trap add-ons you were basically giving up the chase to break a loop. Now you can break the loop and keep the chase going. It is a huge difference if you played her then and now, even though it's a simple change.

What people should stop doing is making tier lists. Killers should be evaluated on more than just how powerful they are. It should be more than just a vertical scale.
Hag, Pig, Nurse, Myers, Huntress are specialists.
Or.
Billy, Trapper, Leatherface can be bruisers.
Classify them according to their usefulness or your style. Clown could be a low level specialist too, or a high level bruiser.
Doctor could be a mid level tactician and a high level skirmisher.
Stop worrying about tiers and focus on classes.

Hag is top tier 100%.
She shuts down loops FAST.

My own ranking generally goes like this
S Tier - Nurse, Hillbilly
A Tier - Clown, Hag, Doctor, Huntress
B Tier - Myers, Trapper
C Tier - Leatherface
D Tier - Freddy, Wraith (who I would put on B tier post buffs)I haven't really decided where to put Spirit yet. And I know a couple of people who would actually put Myers higher.

You aren't suppose to chase with the hag. The only time you chase with her is if the survivor is running toward your traps. If the survivor is not running toward your traps than it is not worth that chase. She is slow so you can't rely on your speed to catch up to the survivors and you will only get hits with your traps or sneaking up on people doing gens in dead zones. She is top tier because she can cut off loops and make survivors run towards her traps.
I don't need to play Hag much cause I main Nurse. See Nurse has crap walk speed but has an ability that more than offsets that.
Now look at Hag. You can say "you don't need to chase with Hag" That's not the point. Killers are situational. Even if I'm not chasing I want the ability to cause a situation may call for it, in short bursts or whatever. It's like saying a car engine is fine if it's weak because you might never need to go 100 mph.
At some point you need closing speed. Hag has little.
They made some slight quality of life changes and took the slow down off a couple addons. Big whoop. She is marginally better but no, I am not a Hag main but I never die to any of them either. Hell you just set off all the traps and Hag is almost useless save for the fact you might get to set a trap during a chase, and in that two seconds I can break LOS.
The point is BHVR is selling you this myth Hag is so much better. She's marginally better. Still slow AF
As I said above you place traps down and make the survivors run into them. You say you will just set all of her traps off great she can just place more and if you trigger a trap at the wrong time well there is a free hit for the hag. As long as she has someone on the hook she can constantly place more and more traps. Just beacuse you don't die to a hag doesn't mean that other people don't die from one. I don't die from nurses. That is a true statement. I can die from a god nurse, but not a ######### one..

Here's my point. People say "Nurse is god tier. Hands down."
Then you go play Nurse and you suck at prediction. Which you have to know to play her. In your Book you go Nurse sucks. Because for your style she is incompatible. And then you can never understand why everyone says what they say. But you try Huntress one day and it just works for you.
Some people dominate with Myers or Pig or Clown. For them that's what works.
People consider Ken and Chun Li some of the most iconic fighting game characters ever. But that means nothing if you can wreck everyone with Blanka.
