Hex Totems anywhere is a VERY BAD MECHANIC

In some games there are times when if you carry 1 hex (AT THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME) it does not last 30 seconds or they appear right next to the spawn of the survivors. This turns the duration of the totem into luck. I think it is much better that the totem always appear next to the killer. In case you have 2 hex totems at the beginning of the game, the second totem appears instead of random.

but thats what hex totems are all about, luck. Hexes are supposed to be risky but rewarding.

Ok, now let's imagine that the hex totem appears in front of the survivor at the beginning of the game. This is no longer considered luck, it is to disappear an ability immediately. What I propose is also luck but with more balance. The killer will be able to leave the hex location and survivors will have to search.

Actually it is luck. They had a chance to spawn there the spot was not gaurenteed and they could have spawned anywhere else but luck of the draw they spawned next to the totem.

also, lbr: How many survivors actually DO totems?

There's people in the game who wouldn't do totems even if they'd ALL spawn in the same location and be clearly labeled. and those people would STILL complain bout the killer running ruin/noed/haunted and how that's unfair and has no counter.

...Every survivor does hex totems. This conversation isn't about dulls.

"If it glows, it goes." isn't a popular saying for no reason.

But yeah if the totem always spawned next to the killer, it wouldn't be hard to guess where it is. Even easier if you take shroud offerings. What they need to work on is general locations on old maps. Many of them have bad spawn points, like right across from generators on walls. Newer maps are much better, especially Dead Dawg Saloon. I know Midwich isn't popular with many but even the totem spawn points in open halls are hard to deal with, since both the killer and survivor can make a straight shot to it. I've seen games lost that way.

Honestly, I have soured on hex totems almost completely because if it gets found right at the start, ain't nothing I can really do to stop being down a perk.

I don't quite think you understand what luck is..... As its either near them ( unlucky) or not near them (lucky)

Only a couple of the hexes even deserve hex status..but thanks to busted perks like detectives hunch and an overall abundance of ######### spawns..the design of hexes is very flawed and needs reviewing

Increase the amount of totems from 5 to 12 and have a hex jump totems twice when cleansed(if dull's are available). This gives hex perks a much needed buff, guarantee that a killer dont lose a perk slot 20 seconds into the match and makes totems a better a secondary objective than it currently is.

With this change its less important how hidden a totem need to be and we could get some more perks with totem conditions on both sides.

I have never liked hex perks.

The idea that survivors can literally take away that power in 20 seconds, is lame imo and I dont use builds that rely on that type of gamble.

Devour Hope for example, takes 3 downs and 3 hooks to reach tier 3, then in 20 seconds it is gone, might as well play Leatherface and be able to down them at anytime.

Hexes are really not worth it at the moment. I tried last night build with ruin, got swamp and ofc ruin spawned in the hill next to the tree where it isn't hidden even at the slightest. Never again. My luck is so bad that there is no point running those ######### perks.

I always get paired with the randoms that ignore the lit totem next to the gen they do first because they're afraid of Haunted Grounds and it ends out being Devour Hope. 🤦‍♀️

If I judge by the forum (here and steam) then apparently people don't do them but get upset they were in play
