I'm 300 hours in and I feel like I suck horribly.
My biggest issue is looping. I cannot loop for the life of me and any time a killer senses that I am a weak link, they'll target me a lot. I thought I'd be much better at 300 hours in but I'm not. Damn this game is rough.

mood.
have you got the chance to practice with friends in custom matches?
Also, if looping doesn't work for you, practice plain evasion. I've gotten pretty good at outmaneuvering nurse and deathslinger, currently getting better at dodging spirit and billy.

F then...
also, is not just looping, you also need do some mindgames like fake a window vault, or even risky don't drop some pallets because maybe the killer don't expect it and hit the air.

I have almost 900 hours and I think that I still suck at this game lol
I'm also bad at mindgames both as killer and survivor. But it doesn't concern me that much. There's definitely a room for improvement 😉
Watch some video guides about looping, it might help a bit.

I mean, this stuff is all extremely basic. I've learnt that. It's still difficult (even though I am red ranks).

I do, but it's much more difficult than people make it seem.

Watch looping tutorials. Helped me a lot.

300h aren't that many. So, don't feel disheartened. There are 33 maps in dbd, iirc. Simply learning the layouts is already a daunting task. Then there are all the other things you need to pay attention to. Keep practicing and don't go in with the expectation of surviving, 4k'ing, or pulling off amazing plays. Just try to learn something from every mistake. You'll improve much faster and be happier in the process.

Even with 700+/- hours there's room to improve

Oh, I know, believe me.

Watch some tutorial videos, it helped me alot

Use Windows of Opportunity, it helps us survivors who can't loop well.
Watch some of the youtube videos that explains looping.
Run straight from a killer, instead of diagonally from a killer. This gives you more distance.
When a killer is about to hit you, don't vault windows or drop pallets, use the speed burst to run as straight as you can to a jungle gym.
Change your tactics. User a more immersed perk build that lets you work on gens, do totems and rescue survivors while hiding from the killer.

It's the hardest thing to learn as survivors. I'm rank 1 and I have to say I'm very good but the looping part is my weakest still. I can watch Fungoose on youtube and it looks so easy when he does it, but then when I'm under that stress I simply make mistakes and..down I go.
Wish there would have been a practice mood were you can just run around in every map trying to remember were every pallet is. Because my memory is pretty bad. I can play 100 games on the same map and still be pretty confused to were things are.

For 300 hours you can't loop like when you have 1k hours... practice and you can look at a good streamer or youtube (non-toxic!) like tru3talent. He's good survivor/killer, and also non-toxic player, you can look at his survivor gameplay, and you will learn somethings from it.
Also you need to learn the maps layout to be able to loop properly, where the pallets are, windows etc... And when you loop...... just don't waste pallets/camp pallets or any of that. Camping pallets vs a decent killer, will just kill you because of latency and hits going tru pallets easily.
And don't be afraid when killer chasing you. And try to play solo survivor more, always solo survivors are more good than the survs that plays in swf because they don't rely on anyone and usually they are more good at looping (it depends, but a solo surv rank 1 says it [me]). Again, with 300 hours you can't do much, you are the begining still. And i saw many players with like 2/3k hours and they don't know to loop and they die in 15 seconds.
Edit: And also you can make yourself a favourite map, example a good unfair map for killers is Ormond. You can play ormond and learn it, as much as you want, and just like that too with other maps, like farm/springwood/bloodlodge(pallet town) etc... You'll need a lot of offerings, but its just an ideea what you can do to accelerate the looping improvements..

Do you play killer at all? If not, I would really recommend it. You learn a lot by seeing exactly what killers are capable of and what good survivors do against you.

Unfortunately, this game isn't like the other "30 hour" games, and even at 300 hours there is still so much to learn.
I am at 1700 hours and learn new things in this game all the time, its a never ending mountain of counters and outplays, each new map, perk, killer adds changes and methods of counters.
As some have mentioned, playing both sides helps tremendously, however, that is also why it takes so long to master this game.
To truly master it, you must master both sides imo.

This game takes alot of time to get really good at. I suggest watching Fungoose on Youtube, he is a really good educational content creator for both sides of the game.
Here is his basic looping tutorial.

Stealth is your friend, then. Looping is very killer-dependent, and by that I mean that it's you versus the individual on the other side of the game and not their specific killer choice. I suck at reading people, so I can't loop. I stick with stealth to compensate.

Can I ask the platform you are playing on... some people might join a KYF to help you out

evasion good way to play too as long you do things and hide.

300 hours is often the time when you get good enough to understand just how bad you are at the game)))
Just play more, watch someone more experienced and you might improve.

Thing is, if all 4 survivors do nothing but looping and juking, no gens and totems are being done. Therefore, both roles are crucial.
0 -
Pshh just hold the interact button and do all 5 gens in under a minute. SURVIVOR IS SO EASY.

pretty common in this game. You need at least 2k hours to be somewhat good (inb4, please don't reply with the average "you can leave the game in background to increase hours", it's a stupid answer).
1 -
you need to equip the right camo Claudette and perks: Iron Will at least
0 -
300 hours isn't that much tbh. You could try practicing 1v1 loops with a friend.

I was in the same position when I started. Switched to killer as first person POV was easier to use.

Hi there welcome to the "I suck club" :-) You're not alone. I do too.
Don't be hard on yourself as many of us feel the same and we will get better!
You've got some helpful advice in this thread. There are very kind people around here.
I've actually be thinking and toying with the idea of starting an "Adopt a Noob" / "Direct a Dweet" thread to see if any more knowledgeable players to come beat us a round and make us better. :-) Or all of us new kids to go in and mess around and help each other get better at looping and looking behind and running our little hearts out.
The game has a massive learning curve. For sure.

I’m really good with the killers I’ve spent time on...but abysmal at ones I haven’t. Which makes for awful diversity in what I can play without getting bullied because I’m in red/purple constantly. I really hope the rumor that MMR is killer specific is true because damn would it be nice to learn killers in anything but a trial by inferno.

I've got a bit more than that in, I think, and I still suck at looping. You don't have to be good at looping. find something else you're good at. Sometimes running in a straight line is fine.
1 -
I didn't really feel like I "got gud" until around 1000 hours.

There different types of survivors in dead. If you can't loop do gens or be altruistic. I normally run a sneaky build cause i ain't good at looping.

I think it comes down to map knowledge and spatial/environmental awareness.
Learning the maps and tiles will help you determine ahead of time your multiple options for looping it. Being able to keep your eyes on the killer as you round a corner to see if they killer will follow or double back is very important. Blocking line-of-sight is probably the single most important thing for dodging killer attacks...and that's where the mind games start.
I still think I suck, but I also know I've gotten much better than when I first started playing last year...but it took over 300 hours. Good luck and keep practicing, friend!

Really? I think I reached that point at 2000 hours
lol

Watch ussylis. Just see what he does and adapt it to what you need. He also has tutorials but not for looping tho. Stuff like likes, mind games, etc.

It's Trial and Error, just keep trying and you should be able to do well eventually.

don't worry, an experienced player equals a minimum of 1k hours in this game

Some really nice people on this thread. I'm a killer main and really suck at Survivor, but I spend my time making specific builds for each Survivor and playing them to their strengths, and literally no one but my Meg is any good at Killer Evasion of any sort. But I have fun so that's fine!

Thank you 😉But I'm not that worried. It helps me to improve my skills. At least I'm not bored by being a true pro who achieved everything, so yeah.

As long as you pip, you will always get stronger and stronger opponents even if you still suck

Hello
I recommend you watching videos about looping. Learn how to loop Jungle Gyms and mace tiles in general.
