Survivors should be locked too.
Let me preface this by saying: I understand the reason for the killer lock. I understand it's so high rank players can practice as new killers against a fair survivor lobby. This is all understood.
Now, to my point: If killers have to have a load out ready before even searching for a match, so should survivors. There is absolutely no reason survivors shouldnt also be locked into their choices. If you have any legit reasons, I'd be happy to hear you out.
But why is it okay for a survivor to have the opportunity to last second a key but the killer has no choice but to stay or lobby dodge? Theres no reason why I, a rank one survivor, can wait until the very last second of lobby time to switch to a key or some other item, while killers are locked into their killer choice.
If the devs plan on keeping the killer lock, a survivor lock definitely needs to be looked at and implemented for the sake of balance. If not, good job continuing to kill a great game by implementing further ways to ruin the killer experience.
And if you're a killer main and you're cool with this change, good for you man but its important to take everyone's opinion into account, and in my opinion, it's bad.

Because if toxic players can’t last second switch to P3 claudette or Pink hair Nea with a flashlight then a lot of people will be unhappy

I play both sides and I agree with you. Survivors need to be locked into loadout from the time they click READY.
At this point, what BHVR should do is remove the lobby section entirely. You (or your group) click Ready, it searches, and upon making a match takes everyone directly to offering burning screen, then the loading screen, then into the map.
As it stands right now, I don't even feel like playing once this hits PC. I think I might just continue my break and see how this all shakes out before deciding to return or not.
32 -
From my understanding of how this reads its locking in tge killer, not your loadout. You can still make last minute adjustments if necessary like putting on lightborne or franklins.
And as long as youre able to make last minute adjustments to your perks i think its a great idea
6 -
Changes are not even out and ya'll are already asking for nerfs lol
10 -
You wont have to last second swap anymore. Join up run thr known exploit to pick the perfect counter hope you dont get lobby dodged with a dc
2 -
This is going to end tragically if the hack to see the killers loadout and killer is still around, however I think that got removed a few weeks ago.
But yea survivors just shouldn't be able to quickswitch, I wouldn't ask for a lock, as I like customising survivors in lobby, but more of a "can't switch when 15 seconds are left" kinda thing.
4 -
Actually, they are out on Xbox. And since someone in my house has it on their Xbox Gamepass, I've already tried it hands-on.
5 -
Definitely. If the killer can't adapt to the match conditions in the lobby, then those conditions shouldn't be allowed to change in the lobby.
5 -
Killer can still change perks in lobby, so I don't see the need to do that. Unless they remove the lobby entirely, but it would suck if a team rolls up with 4 flashlights and you don't already have Franklin's or lightborn equipped.
1 -
Yeah, everyone should be locked in the moment the lobby loads. It's only fair, if killers aren't allowed to cheese the system to bully lower ranked players then survivors shouldn't be allowed to quick switch to broken items to bully unprepared killers.
2 -
Remove Lobby and take everyone go directly into the trial is a good idea for me. Where survivors cant even see who they have as their team mates.
But this will make the gaps between Solo & SWF become more horrible
2 -
As long as survivors can tell what killer they are facing before the match starts due to the log issue still in effect, and the fact that they can and will swap last second for keys / maps / flashlights etc, this is a horrible idea to only lock killers.
Survivors need to be locked in item wise as well. It's incredibly unfair for this to be only one sided. The type of people who already abuse the log issue are already toxic red rank so why would you want to enable further toxicity by giving survivors so much power over the killer before the match even starts.
3 -
How are they getting power over the killer? Previously the killer could fully adjust based on survivor loadouts but survivors couldn't do the opposite. Now they're getting closer to a state where neither side can adjust based on their opponent. Especially if killers can still change perks, I'm not sure why this is that big of a deal.
3 -
If you read my entire post you would understand that survivors in pre-game lobby right now can tell what killer they are going against before the match starts. With that knowledge you can plan your perks around the killer, and still last second item swap.
You think its fair for a trapper to load into a match where no survivors are using items, then last second you have a key, a map, and two toolboxes with BNP on them, giving the killer no time to adjust?
2 -
it will be fair as is if they completely disable the way to see who the killer is. i agree the survivors working together makes sense
0 -
Look, I have all the perks and a fuckton of items on my Dwight. I have no other survivor with ANY time put into them. Now imagine I pick a normal meg with one perk then I switch to my Dwight with everything. Every meta perk and a key at the last second. That's no fair in the slightest. I don't care about your opinion on this one to be honest cause it's #########. This is a terrible idea plain and simple.
2 -
And how would the killer know you switched from a survivor with 1 perk to a survivor with meta perks? Youre really reaching there. All the killer knows is you switched to a key. And he can hanfmdle it i imagine how hed handle it now, put your ass in the basement and not let you leave. So theres no real difference between what happens today and what will happen once this change goes live

I said it in another thread. I oppose the idea of locking survivors for a simple reason. I, and I imagine many others spend our time between games spending BP. Usually on a character we're leveling. Not the one we intend to play. I would however support at least the charters being locked after 30 seconds in lobby.
1 -
Its a good idea but the bad part is killer will never bring franklin because at this point the perk is base on luck. Im sure some killer will se 3 flashlight in the game and they will say ######### it im leaving this match i dont want to deal with this and just DC
0 -
Killers can still change perks, add ons and offerings, so why shouldn’t survivors??
This thread alone just shows how much killer bias there is in these forums.
3 -
Its the same for killer i like to level up other killer during the time im searching for a game. But lobby locking the survivor will remove the possibility to bring multiple item at the last second. Lets say i try legion and i dont have franklin or lightborn on him and i see a lobby full of item i can just dodge that lobby and find another lobby and the survivor that were there dont lose the priority they had for a game. Now i see you have zero item and you swich last second and i dont have the time to dogde then i will quit during the loading screen like that i dont get the dc penality and my queue are still fast but the survivor who were in this lobby just lost the priority they had for a game and they need to reset the queue time that not healthy for the game
1 -
Or you could play the game and let matchmaking try to do it's thing? Imagine survivors complaining about not being able to dodge moris.
The ones who do dodge do so by DC'ing, and people hate them for it... same idea here.
0 -
Nah, survivors should be able to change. Sometimes you just see there's 3 Nancy's and you don't want to be the odd one out.
2 -
I understand that. But then the MMR won't work if killers can switch at will.
0 -
Which is why they aren't asking for them to be unlocked. They just want equal treatment across the board.
2 -
True that why the guy ask for survivor to be lock too. For me i already wait 10 minute for my survivor queue i dont want to wait another 10 minute for another game because 2 people swich last minute. Im sure its the same for everyone if i need to wait 20 minute before 1 game i will just play another game
0 -
Thats as silly as asking for survivors to be able to hook people and killers to be able to do gens. Because that's equal treatment.
2 -
This is exactly how it works on mobile, and it’s bliss!
1 -
Oh, is this about a new update or something? Did killers get nerfed again?
0 -
Been playing a lot of mobile recently and I can't help but wonder why it seems so much better designed, myself.
0 -
They implemented an entire new system to make killers lives easier. And that still isn't enough.
2 -
People aren't disagreeing with adding the idea of a per killer base match making.
People are disagreeing with the execution of said idea when it comes down to the survivor's side.
2 -
this new system is a big problem for killers like hag. Nobody wants to play hag into a match with multiple flashlights where her power is useless. Plz either unlock the killer, make it so survivors cant switch out for keys and flashlights at the last seconds, make flashlights not completely screw over the hag. (and fix the cheaters that can tell how the killer is)

I can still hide that nasty key in Steve’s hands tho

Something I don't understand is that I never play Jane right so if I pick Jane my mmr on Jane would be bad right?
But then I could last minute switch to jake who is my main with every perk that I have a huge amount of hours on..
Will mmr work for survivors as a whole like that? I'm so confused
Unless they are basing your survival mmr on all characters for survivor which is bizarre to me because I know I enjoy playing Jeff but I do worse with him than I do jake I have no idea why..
(killers be jealous of Jeff's beautiful hair)
I just want to know people's thoughts on how mmr will work for survivor side?
Thanks 🐷💖

It's concerning the new MMR system, which went live on Xbox today. They're live testing it there and if it works out in live, it's launching to all other platforms within a couple of weeks.
A family member has DbD on Xbox via their gamepass, so I was able to test it today. Details on it can be found here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/173606

I haven't played Mobile in around two months, but when I played the controls were really unintuitive in layout. I'm hoping they add the ability to change the layout and positions of buttons.
That said, outside of my controls complaint, in my opinion DbD Mobile is superior to the normal game in many ways. Shame those Devs can't come over and do some work on this mess of a game.
As it stands, I'm still going to watch the forums and player feedback, as well as BHVR announcements, but I think I am going to wait until, maybe, late Summer/early Fall before I consider really coming back to play anything accept just an occasional match. I am wary of how in the living hell they got an MMR system to work in a game like this, and want to see how it all shakes out before I (potentially) waste my time. I'll just stick with Overwatch for the time being, I suppose.

Resident Doctor Main here,
I'm just saying, whenever I play survivor, it's always Solo Queue. It might be I don't have friends willing to play, or it might be that I play better when solo gen jockey-ing. Either way, Comms, at least in my opinion, aren't exactly fair in the larger scope of the game. imo, it just gives survivors easier reign to take all of the map pressure the killer has and throw it in the garbage with a person running DS and unbreakable, and another person running Self-Care and a perk to do gens faster. I get what you're saying though. Sincerely,
Resident Doctor Main

So we talking about fair? Then let Survivors see which killer they going to face and let them see his profile too. No? then stop crying for once.
I dont mind any survivors items expect maybe keys, Just change how they key works, then you don't need to lock survivors at lobby.
If you think any other survivors items are a problem then you are noob.
4 -
(Not doing the signature and all if I'm posting multiple times in a thread. seems kind of dumb)
I see where you're getting at, but if it's a SWF filled with Rank 1's and they have comms and purple toolboxes, you're already screwed. At least killers can change their perks and whatnot.
0 -
Killers can't see survivors addons anyway, And toolboxes after last nerf without BNP isn't good except maybe for sabotaging.
SWF if all 4 are good and sweaty you're probably screwed anyway, no matter what items they bring.
2 -
That's basically what I was saying, albeit I added on the part about Toolboxes.
0 -
But like its takes forever to find a survivor lobby, and I like to ready up then mess with my perks, etc. Because there is no reason to spend 5 minutes on my perks then wait another 5 minutes for a lobby when that all couldve been done in the same time
1 -
I made a thread talking about THIS exact issue and everybody thought I was saying killer shouldn't be locked. Quick switching as a survivor literally should not be in the game. Killer should be locked and so should survivor.
1 -
I absolutely agree. A Nea with no item quick switching to a Feng with a key right before the 5 second ready lock shouldn't be allowed like, ever.
1 -
Let’s be honest, how many times does this happen? Like, almost never?
0 -
I'm just so sad that nobody understood the point of my thread :(
1 -
This is a great idea, bring it to their Suggestions Page.
2 -
Honestly? I didn't know that even existed. I only just joined a few hours ago though.
0 -
Yeah, they have suggestions and Feedback.
From what I recall....a lot of their changes comes from there, in moderation of course.
Give it a shot.
