Why Freddy > Hag?

Question for red rank killers: - Why is he considered better then Hag?

Hag has much easier counter play for survivors that know what they're doing. Freddy also has much more map pressure.

He's 115. He can't be countered by flashlights. He can equip blindness blocks in case of object, which is a huge bane to hag. He teleports across the map to pop gens. You can't crouch over his snares. Snares can be placed mid-chase with no penalty.

Freddy = 115%, quick and effective at loops, can teleport directly to objective whenever he wants, baiting teleports, omnidirectional lullaby, gen slowdown.

Hag = 110%, Light sensitive traps, takes time to place, no direct teleportation ability (without add-ons).

People don't quite understand how to play hag, its like the nurse situation they play completely different and they don't understand it so they underestimate hags power.

Freddy is just an m1 killer but better not that he needs to be nerfed but he is close to the gold standard that m1 killers can be.

Because he is super easy and people are lazy. Hag is easily leagues above Freddy simply because she has a drastically higher skill ceiling. However, she also has a drastically higher skill floor, and so bad hags dismiss her as a weaker killer and go back to snare-spamming, gen-popping, teleport faking, bt-denying Freddster, instead of putting in the not-i considerable time and effort it requires to play hag at a similar level.

    This isn't an absolute.

Each killer has pros and cons, each of which hold different weight to different people.

In the end the only answer to this is based on opinion and personal experience and skill with those killers.

Its NOT Freddy > Hag or Freddy < Hag. It is like everything dependent on personal skill and playstyle. Freddy has a lower skill cap and much less counter play because he can set up while running or looping with survivor. But a hag can craft a masterfully created mmaze of death full of traps where every possible step of any survivor is thought of in advance which leads into 4 men slug in a few seconds (watching at you Otz).

Short: Freddy can use power ongoing with little counterplay and has map pressure. Hag needs to set up and can be countered by SWF VERY hard but if everything goes right top tier killer.

Freddy: Height advantage, speed advantage, traps can be placed faster and requires far less setup, little to no counter to traps, far better map mobility that doesn't require survivors walking into your traps.

Hag: Short, slow and requires a lot of setup, lots of trap counters and her mobility requires survivors to run through her traps.

Hag starts off with no pressure but can snowball very easily mid/late game. While Freddy can output a high level of pressure throughout the entire match.

Hag's skill ceiling is also higher than Freddy. At red ranks most killers know how to chase. A red rank can learn and get very good with Freddy in 5 matches while Hag killers can still be learning better trap placements 50 matches in. Since the barrier to entry is lower it's more likely to find better Freddy than Hag.

I feel like people vastly overestimate how hard it is to play hag. The only thing that takes real skill on her would be using mint rag. Everything else is spamming down traps at every pallet or chokepoint near a 3 gen or a hook and then mashing control to collect free hits. Probably the most skillful thing you do as hag is waiting to see if someone on the other side of a pallet is going to vault it to determine if you take a trap or not.

Tons of veteran players will just suicide vs. the hag because they know how cheap she is. And I say that as someone who plays a ton of hag.

I think playing an M1 killer is significantly harder than hag.

You're overestimating how hard it is to play an M1 killer. You only have to run up and hit survivors with M1. They move much faster than survivors so all they have to do is follow survivors until bloodlust builds up and get their easy hit in. Braindead easy.

It's easy to say something takes less skill than something else if you ignore the finer details of each situation.

Well let me put it like this. Once you know roughly where to place traps at each loop to get hits, there is little else to do with her beyond place those traps and take them. I get more 1 hook kills with all survivors alive as hag than any other killer, because there is really no way to get around the traps if she is patrolling nearby. The only thing she struggles with is object SWFs.

M1 killers you have to be constantly reacting to survivors during the looping process, and each survivor plays differently. A survivor setting off a trap and you instantly teleporting to it is the same hit every time.

I disagree. While she isn't nurse level of hard, she requires you to have map knowledge and a plan. Sure you can just place them at pallets but if your doing that without thinking ahead, it will lead you to disaster

Freddy is braindead easy. His power can end chases in seconds since it has no counterplay.

You know what its brain dead easy? Offering to maps with tons of high grass and 4 swf with blendettes. Tell me how to play killer when you can't see ppl hidding in a dark map filled with vegetation.

You lost me at "spamming down traps". Anyone with even the slightest experience knows that placing traps without thought is the easiest way to lose. Just because a killer has a playstyle you don't like doesn't make them cheap, either, and the very idea that a basic m1 chase is harder than the infernal chess match that is hag is laughable. Weaker, certainly, but not harder.

Take, for instance, a jungle gym. How would you trap it? What about an open-field chokepoint. A junk loop? The basement, her all-time strong spot? What is her biggest counterplay? And, if she is so easy, why does she have such a low pick and kill rate? Logically speaking, easy killers get picked more often, which is why relying on the stats to determine strength is useless. However, the killer pick rates certainly go someway towards shining a light on their skill floor.

As long as you have eyes, Blendettes aren't a real threat except on dark maps. Besides, Freddy can see the outline of asleep survivors, so hiding is quite impossible.

Thank you all for your answers. I though that the teleport to the traps made her a way better killer then freddy. Still need to try her first.
