NEW MMR NOT NEEDED, WE NEED JUST A FEW CHANGES!
Sorry devs, but in my opinion you create a new matchmaking system which will bring more problems to the game instead of optimize the actual/older one... and I tell you why:
The new mmr will be a huge nerf for killer, cause to lock a killer before you see the lobby is very hard. Imagine you want to play a trapper and in the lobby you see survivors with maps... nice. Or you want play hag or wraith and there are a lot of flashlights. I think we would see a lot of lobby dodging. And the „skill level“ on each killer is difficult too, cause what is with new killer (new chapter)? You have no datas how the player will perform on this, so he is always „low skill“?? And what means the game will predict the outcome of a match? It says a good nurse with good perks and a mori locked will easy win so this killer get matched with „skilled“ survivors?? What are the factors for a „skilled“ survivor? For example you get destroyed by a very strong killer with a mori a few games in a row or you got facecamped means you are not skilled? I think it’s very difficult...
The fact is that the actual matchmaking went weird because it’s a paradise for boosted and carried survivors and because of that there are not enough purple, green and yellow rank survivors for killers on this „skill level“, so they get matched with highrank survivors or with good survivors who just not play enough to reach better ranks. On top the „newer“ swf-lobby-matchmaking often needs more good killer in total, only because there is one red rank survivor in the team... To make it clear I have a example for my theory:
I know it’s a very simple „statistic“ and please tell me if I‘m on the wrong way, but it should just show that there are to many higher rank survivors and not enough low rank survivors and the result is that bad killers have to go against good survivors. But we all know that the high number of red and purple rank survivors include a lot of boosted player, boosted by swfs and the easy pip-system for survivor, while on killer side it’s harder to pip and that makes killerranks more skill based.
With all these said, here my solution for a fair matchmaking:
Make piping for survivors harder, so boosted player will enter the rank which according their skill level (rank colour), remove the rankreset because it punished player only for playing not enough and this hurts „bad“ killers cause they have to go against this players while rank is not rewarded and at least lock player ranks to avoid de-ranking for example if a player reached the highest rank of one rank colour, he couldn’t rank lower than the first rank of the lower colour (rank 1 can’t de-rank lower than rank 5...).
I think this ideas combined with the „older“ matchmaking where you was matched with player around your rank would work very well. Maybe some of you think with a de-rank-lock we wouldn’t have enough player on level 13-20 but it’s a important thing for a game to get new player to playing dead by daylight and that’s the job of the devs.
To complete my idea I would make a change around „rainbow-swf“: the team will be matched to a killer in the middle of the ranks, but better survivors gets a handicap. For example a team with the ranks 1, 5, 13 and 17 (36:4=9) go against a rank 9 killer, but for every colour difference the „better“ survivor can use -1 perk, so in this example the rank 1 can use only 2 perks and the rank 5 can use 3 perks while the other two survivors and the killer can still use all 4 perks.
