Iron Maiden Buff Suggestion

Currently, Iron Maiden is a very situational, lackluster perk.

Its first effect of opening lockers faster is pleasing but doesn't have much of an outcome on the game. You're either wasting time opening them, or you find a survivor. With Iron Maiden, you waste slightly less time, or find a survivor. It will save you a few seconds a game as Huntress, and it's not even very good on her.

Its second effect is to Expose and to reveal the location of any survivor who exits a locker. The 15 seconds of Exposed doesn't do much, since there are very few killers who can take advantage of that 15 seconds unless they're already very nearby the Survivor or even already in chase. The fact that it shows a Survivor's location can come into play in the early game, but once Survivors realize you have the perk, they'll simply avoid lockers for the rest of the game.

The biggest effect it has is annoying users of Inner Hope and Head On.

With all that in mind, here is my proposed buff/rework of the perk.

Your modifications to Lockers make them a dangerous hiding place for Survivors.

When a Survivor uses a Rushed Action to enter or exit a Locker, Iron Maiden applies the Deep Wound Status Effect, causing the Survivor to scream and reveal their location for 4 seconds. The Survivor has 20/15/10 seconds to mend themselves.

You open Lockers 50 % faster.

This changed Iron Maiden would be much more evocative of the perk's namesake, by directly Injuring any Survivor who isn't careful around it.

Iron Maiden will most likely no longer provide you with any early game information. It is also unlikely to affect Inner Hope users much. That's because in these situations, Survivors are unlikely to use a Rushed Action at a locker. This also means that Survivors won't find out about this perk early in the game.

This reworked Iron Maiden would, however, punish Survivors for cheeky and aggressive plays around Lockers.

  1. It is a pretty hard counter to Head On. Even if they enter the locker slowly, they will get hit with Deep Wound when using the perk.
  2. It would punish certain aggressive uses of Decisive Strike. If a DS user hops in a Locker to bait you into grabbing them, they'll get hit with Deep Wound and be forced to exit the locker fast so they can mend themselves.
  3. It would punish using Lockers during chase. Things like Locker jukes, hiding in Lockers with Quick and Quiet, etc.
  4. It would punish people who jump in and out of a locker to attempt to distract you.

All in all, the perk would still be rather niche and situational, but I argue it would be much more likely to come in clutch during a match against aggressive Survivors. Why? Because they won't know about it until it's too late. Entering/exiting a locker slowly would tell them nothing.
