It's been 2 months already since the Devs showed us a glance on how the updated Graphics will look. 2 MONTHS?!?! I don't know when they are going to be released but I feel like we are getting really close to that time. Can't wait for the horror vibes in this game that the new graphics will bring!

Here's a video if you want to rewatch how the Graphics will look:

Maybe a single graphically updated map next chapter to test performance? It's very possible

Apparently balancing changes wrt loops comes with graphical updates.

First time I’ve seen that. I really hope its not darker all around, not unless they nerf Blendette and certain other cosmetics.

Kinda unsure, on reddit, most screenshots are taken with Nvidia filters on anyways, most killers, survivor games lookslike a bleached bootyhole considering how bright their game are.

Not sure the new maps are going to change anything to that matter.

Hate to say it but as someone who played Ultima Online in the 90s and saw them try to "update the game engine" and then begin offering two game clients to players, you can run the old graphics or new graphics after 20 years of game play, things like this alter the game in a way that although its nice to look at, it definitely changes the flavor of the game.

Ultima Online is a prime example.

Looks nice, but many will always prefer the old graphics instead of the new world of warcraft looking angles.

I thought they did multiple optimization passes on console? Are they still 30 FPS ? oO

yeah, running around a tree log or a big rock huntress for 30 seconds is really scary and doesn't absolutely ruins every effort put in to make the game horror.

It's a pvp game. There's nothing scary about it after 10 hours of gameplay, no matter what they'll update.

Oh no. They're much much worse. Like whenever a status effect is applied the game freezes level of worse. Somehow the Switch is the best optimised of them all and that should be saying something.

Considering DBD is a capped fps game. I don't think this is true. My computer can without a doubt handle much better graphics without a drop in fps.

It'll never really be spoopy because it always looks like 6:30 AM

    Needs to be night time

The game seems extremely poorly optimized right now. It looks like a very mediocre PS3 game on my PC at max settings, and uncapping the FPS I get maybe 100 or so. "That's a lot," you might say, until you realize in a game like this with tiny maps, limited graphical fidelity, low res textures, minimal particle effects or anything really spectacular graphically going on, all with just 5 characters, it's like the same (or slightly lower) FPS I'd get from a much bigger game with better graphics and more people playing, be it Call of Duty, FFXIV, Resident Evil Resistance, Destiny 2, Remnant: From The Ashes, etc. There's no competition, when it comes to map size, graphical fidelity and player count, Dead by Daylight is by far the worst optimized game I play.

If this is an update to the graphics that also coincides with optimizations, we might actually see performance go up across the board, because something about how the game was originally designed really hurts performance for no discernible reason.

Or when you’re repairing a generator, look across and see a large man in a pink elephant costume chasing a man in an elf costume around and around and around in circles with the elf giving a little tbag every now and then.

It looks good hopefully it doesn't kill my frame rate. I doesn't look like the maps are darker overall but more the shadows deepen where there is contrast between light and dark (just a shallow observation based on the video alone). You'll probably find that stealthy characters have fewer dark places to hide overall but a few really good places of high contrast potentially making then predictable. Only time will tell, it does look nice though.

They look nice. But my concern is will it damage performance. My other concern is the shack. Will that ramp eliminate/alter shack looping? Will the killer need to go up that ramp in order to put someone in the basement?

Imo, the only two things that they can do add a level of fear and adrenaline, would be more jump scares, like Hag, and perhaps a killer that actually costs survivors blood points and pips.

Other than that, killers fear the survivors more

  • VonCrow

The game can't be scary if the killer is not strong enough. Nobody fears the killer except new players.

Except from Hag that is a jumpscare expert.

Yeah it'll be horrifying I bet because you'll never find Blendettes again.

They already need to. This isn't a game where you should have to spend 10 minutes to find a blends the with a key.

It does not matter how well made the graphics are.

If dbd's balance remains the same, it will continue to a clown-fest with serial killers running around boxes and survivors holding down their left mouse button for minutes at a time

im all for graphics updates. But it wont turn this game into a horror game at all. I just cant believe theyre really focusing on a graphics update and using their time and resources for that, instead of focusing on balancing some of the extremely lame perks and maps in their game. They need more investment into their balance team, fire that guy with silver hair and painted fingernails, and get some fog whisperers in the studio to talk balance. People who play this game as much as the whisperers know exactly how to fix it

Eh screenshots make me skeptical of how the final upgrade is actually going to look. A gameplay video would be more reassuring. That being said, I think a graphics overhaul was long overdue and am glad they’re putting some effort into it.

And the mountain of bugs that will come with it thanks to terrible coding like yandere devs coding
