(Suggestion) Please balance less than optimal matchmaking as soon as possible
Behaviour team,
I'm devotion 11+ on PS4 and my DBD mix is 1/3 killer, 1/3 SWFs and 1/3 solo. When teamed up like many across all platforms, there is a wait time for the next appropriate killer. Your efforts to shorten this time from an average of twenty minutes down to an average of five is greatly appreciated. I can't help but notice my red ranked team is consistently getting non red ranked killers. The only time we are consistently matched against red ranked killers are during new content drops: survivor/killer/tome.
I've had many conversations with inexperienced killers baffled as to why they are facing my team and how unfair the match they just faced was. As a green ranked killer, I am facing these same red ranked teams. Sidenote, I averaged red ranked killer before the last pip rework, so I do know how to play against red ranked teams. My thoughts on this stage of development are based on anecdotal experience and I'd like to pitch a solution to this perceived imbalance.
I speculate your algorithm first seeks out a red ranked killer to face my team, but as the minutes tick by, the search widens, eventually gifting us whatever killer is next, which has all to often been green or yellow in rank. On social media, this is a huge problem that requires your immediate attention and here's why. In my conversations, these low ranked killers say they never want to play killer again. I'd be happy to send you these conversations. In my efforts, I tell them they did well and are needed because too many players are launching games as SWFs. Imagine the messages they receive from toxic teams. I've received those very messages after losing badly. SWFs are not only making red ranked killers not show up, they are affecting all ranks of killers. MMR and cross platform play won't solve this problem soon enough. This requires immediate attention because damage is being done to your new customers. The problem is systemic; the solution is easy.
In your combined genius, the randomness of maps, tiles and most importantly generator locations - should allow for additional generators to be added in case a forced match (mismatch in skill) occurs. Ultimately, what needs to happen is more work is required if a red ranked SWF team faces a drastically lower ranked killer. Here are the two scenarios I have routinely encountered which should add workload to some survivors.
Experienced players are aware there's only a 25% chance the killer will chase them on start so red ranked survivors are more likely to start a gen within a few seconds after launch. That's why after the first chase, 3 gens can be completed. Add the communication of SWFs to that, and you have a chased survivor telling their friends what % complete their abandoned gen was at, and where, all while being chased. That's why the 4th gen sometimes pops so incredibly early during the second killer chase. This level of efficiency is why you might have a survivor en route to an exit gate prior to the final gen being completed. I do this even when solo.
Balance 1 - To counter the efficiency of SWFs, if a one of those survivors is red ranked AND is with two friends of ANY rank on launch, 1 generator should be added to the total on map.
3+SWF (one red) = +1 generator
This means instead of 7 starting generators, there would be 8. The survivors would have to complete 6 generators instead of 5 to power the exit gates (Hatch would need to be adjusted upwards by 1 as well). Since generator locations are both fixed and random, there should easily be room for adding one. Another benefit to killer is there will be more 3 generator positions to defend. Again, if you have three friends of mixed ranks, and you are red, your presence as a red ranked survivor adds the burden of an additional generator because of your experience and team efficiency. This should apply to all matchmaking and red ranked killers will return to the game more frequently.
Balance 2 - *Stacks!
It shouldn't be the case, but if a non red/purple ranked killers are facing a red ranked SWFs, the match should be made more difficult. Many red ranked survivors are facing mostly purple, green and sometimes yellow ranked killers. This is likely because of the popularity of SWFs. Because of this mismatch, a generator should be added if the average survivor ranks are a full tier group above the killers rank (Hatch would need to be adjusted upwards by 1 as well).
if Survivor rank average is one full tier above Killer = +1 generator
So, a purple or red ranked killer can't possibly see an additional generator added unless they are facing a 3+SWF. If, however a green or below ranked killer lands a 4SWF red ranked team, then there should be 9 generators on the map and 7 would need to be completed to power the exit gates.
PTB this as soon as possible. Your work here is greatly appreciated. I do love this game as my YouTube channel indicates. See you in the fog. -Giggle Geezer
