New to game and survivor, rank 9?

So I just got this game about 2 months ago, and for the first month and 3 weeks, I mostly played killer. For the past week, I've been playing survivor (I did start at rank 14 since I'd played a little bit before) and somehow after just a few matches, I am rank 9 and unfortunately climbing...it seems almost impossible to derank unless I afk my character and perform no actions at all. Even during a bad game where I get caught early and camped, at most I temporarily lose 1 pip, but even on most of those I just get 0.

I do not feel ready for this rank -- I still don't even know how to get away from the killer. I just run urban evasion and quick and quiet and hope he doesn't see me. If he does, gg -- I run in a straight line, jump in any windows I see, drop any pallets in the way, but otherwise it's usually a quick chase and I rarely get away.

In fact, I would say it's gotten even easier to rank up once I got past 12 or so because at that rank, my fellow survivors actually start doing objectives instead of running around in circles, so even if I stupidly get caught, if they are all winning the game for me and I would be on my last hook, I just crouch around the map and cleanse dull totems or open chests and I still pip...In fact, I've been running plunderer for exactly that purpose.

Not to mention, I feel like the killers have gotten easier...I run into a nurse at rank 15 that controls the entire game, seems to be everywhere at once and gets a 4 kill....then I face a rank 8 nurse and basically just run towards her every time she tries to blink to me and somehow she becomes completely disoriented and loses me.

Has anyone else experienced this bizarre phenomenon as you rank up, and are the devs doing anything to address this?

Well, when I first started playing killer too I got to the rank 10 in two days with no problems. Currently I'm worse with survivor even tho I am a survivor main. Had a really bad streak.

As a solo survivor I find that everything is based on luck. As a killer I have more control in the game and have no problem getting to the rank 10 at any time. With survivor I can get to the rank 8 and easily fall back to the rank 14. As a killer I am always 8-10. Never fall back below 10.

    Dunno what that means tbh.

Yes, playing killer I have to derank all the time if I wanna avoid the unfun ranks,

Sadly piping is so easy for both sides that its a joke. Beginners can reach rank 1 in no time by playing enough. Imagine become grand master in another competitive game in your first month? That would be laughable even to think about.

If you wanna derank, please dont DC at least and find anothe way to do it, e.g. like suiciding on the hook or sth like that.

No, the devs even worsened the ranking situation with a recent patch by basicalyl removing rank 20-15 from the pool and by reducing the amount of ranks you lose after the season.
Matchmaking needs a COMPLETE rework (and a casual queue btw), but I fear its not gonna happen soon.

Just a side node. SWF can break the matchmaking so badly that a rank 18 beginner killer can verse three rank 1 survivors teaming up with a single rank 20 survivor (I will never forget that game, thats when I realized that killers are not OP)

Yeah, I had this happen to me before. I had thought I was starting to get the hang of killer, so I was really bummed when I didn't get a single hook all game. At the end, one of the survivors threw himself onto a hook. I tried to let him go, since I hadn't earned the hook, but he insisted, so I did it to end the game. I then saw that they were all high rank and their friend was rank 20 and they explained they were teaching him how to play the game. None of them were rude to me so I didn't really mind, and I ended up putting the guy who gave me a free hook on my friends' list.

On another day, the three of them took me into my first SWF game as a rank 20 survivor (that's how I was rank 14 at the start of this week). It immediately struck me how much easier and calmer it was being on voice chat with everyone than when I had been playing solo. In fact, I didn't really have to do anything....we coordinated generator repairs and unhooking and won every game.

It was so boring that I have not queued up with them since then....I actually prefer solo play lol.
