Spirit rework idea to get rid of most guessing in her and make her scarier
This isn't a very huge rework, but I guess this is going to change the way Spirit is played as and against. I'm going to highlight the changes I've made in her power with that kind of text. I'm hoping this would solve the issue of "good headphones = win" and get rid of most guessing spirit has in her power.
Yamaoka's Haunting
The Spirit can use her power, Yamaoka's Haunting, to enter ethereal plane and reappear in a new location.
- Tap and hold the power button to charge. The Spirit will depart her physical body, leaving behind a stationary husk.
When Yamaoka's Haunting is active:
- The Spirit may traverse freely to a new location, moving at faster rate for a shorter duration. She is still confined to movement within physical environment and surroundings.
- The Spirit leaves the physical plane, losing sight of survivors. She is unable to hear sounds made by survivors, track blood or scratch marks.
- The Spirit will produce an audible cue at her current location that could be heard within 24 meters range from her
- Once the power has ended, The Spirit's husk synchronises with her new position in 0.25-1.5 seconds and Spirit gains a speed boost for a brief period of time after that. During synchronisation, both Spirit and her husk are immune to stuns. Spirit can press attack button during synchronisation to make husk perform a lunge attack. This would remove stun immune from it.
Phasing
Spirit is passively phasing while walking, which makes her disappear for a brief period of time. Spirit is given a visual cue when she is phasing.
When Yamaoka's Haunting is active, press secondary power button to activate Reverse Phasing. That would reveal Spirit's location to survivor and allow Spirit to see survivors, blood and scratch marks for the duration of phasing. This ability is restricted by 2 uses per one haunting and each use drains 10% of maximum Yamaoka's Haunting charge.
What is synchronisation? If you didn't know, Spirit has a special animation when she is phasing that could not be seen by players, as she is invisible (https://youtu.be/noNJj6nc5zg?t=210). This animation is going to be shown during synchronisation and reverse phasing, when she is revealed to survivors. I'm not very sure whether this mechanic (sync) is going to make spirit completely bad or it wouldn't do anything, but I believe, seeing Spirit suddenly moving at 20 mach speed at you with that creepy animation is going to be terrifying.
So, now what is her power now for survivors? It is still pretty old Spirit, but now she doesn't just "hear you", but she has either to completely guess where are you (and so do you) or she has to reveal herself for a brief period of time, giving a glimpse of herself to survivors and gaining information about their new position, as well as giving survivors a warning that they should do something. During synchronisation, which can last up to 1.5 seconds (time can be changed) if Spirit has travelled max distance with her power, survivors have another chance to reach pallet/vault window/etc.
What do you think? I didn't want to include addons, because I suppose they are going to remain pretty same, but perhaps they could affect new numbers. If something is not very clear, feel free to ask questions.

Your post is a bit lengthy for my taste, but bouncing off your ideas, this killer would be much more balanced if survivors saw at least a wisp of where she was phasing, and if she could no longer hear sounds while phasing. Otherwise, she remains one of the most broken killers in the game.

I'm pretty against this idea honestly. While I do agree that Spirit is literal hell to go against I don't like the idea of stripping her from everything that makes her a great killer.
The Spirit not being able to hear survivors or track blood and scratch marks completely cancels out the usage of her power. Sounds and blood should remain as a tracking tool, but scratch marks could go. But this obviously leaves an issue, so the Spirit should have signs of her location. The Spirit moving foliage and survivors being able to hear her walking and giving direction to her audio during phase would probably be the best choices to counter her ability.
Overall, at least in my opinion, Spirit doesn't need a full rework. She just needs tweaks to allow counter play.
(Apologies if I come off as rude or inconsistent as I'm relatively new towards voicing my opinions and suggestions online.)

My rework trades off spirit's old tracking for new one that is reverse phasing which pretty much gives feedback both to spirit and survivor so she doesn't become weaker. She just becomes different.
