Midwich's Absurd Design
Yes yes i know,, license holders like the map.. bhvr can't change it but i just wanted to get it off my chest, literally went against the most average solo team ever.. and i struggled so hard for some reason, it's not like they pulled some insane tech that outplayed me, they literally just held W without even looking behind, i couldn't get in a chase cuz i was still far behind in the hallway, they don't even need a terror radius cuz they can still see me coming down the hallway and i couldn't cut them off cuz there was nothing, this map just doesn't work with M1 killers, if it were hag or spirit they can catch up no problem, but i was playing demo and i even tried cutting them off with my portals and tried baiting with shred to force them to juke and lose distance but they called the bluff cuz i was way too far.

I watched McLean streaming when he talked about it and he was like "it's easy, if you want to go upstairs just go to the corners."
Well every damn time I go to a corner it turns out to be the one the killer has to open up first or some nonsense.

funny enough, the 2nd floor is even worse than the first floor, at least the first floor has a field with 2 doors and u can kinda cut survivors off, the 2nd floor though.... is just a square

Manage to get my 4ks in with Deathslinger on it by now. (getting tremors from the shrine was a blessing for this map)

Wow, it's hard to. Believe how many KILLERS say they have trouble with a 2 story ring around the rosey map. Which seem dont bother pre-breaking for future references.
Ya all do realise there are holes on the floors to fall through right?

The issue is more that the map is just a hold w simulator. Killers may move faster than survivors, but not much faster so a survivor with distance can take a minute to catch up to for just the first hit.

I'm disappointed that you came into a thread that has a genuine complaint just go call someone out on making stuff up... but also completely ignore the main complaint of the thread.

what does a hole leading to the first floor have to do with the 2nd floor being a literal square where survivors can see u coming from far before the terror radius and with no way to cut them off?

every time I have that ######### map I instantly dc same as haddonfield and then apologize to them that im not gonna play on this crappy mas.. would rather play whole day ormond than these 2.. an everyone knows how ormond awful is

Only success I've had is with Hag and Huntress.
Hag was able to teleport around and thanks to the long corridors, hitting hatchets with Huntress was surprisingly easy.
Worst experience was getting hit by Head On twice in a row because of two lockers being parallel to each other so I was stunned for 10 seconds.
I seriously hate the map too, it's not fun to play on and it's just a constant hopeless loop of running in circles.

The map is perfectly fine, there are 4 ways up and about 11 ways down from the 2nd floor. If you're struggling, here's a video and map of the entire structure explaining how to traverse it.

I don’t have issues on this map. I learned the layout. Idk about yall but I don’t do cross map chases. It’s almost always a survivor looking the wrong way to start a chase.

The problem people have isn't balance or traversal, it's the map itself. lts just a horrific slog through the most hold-W experience in DBD because there's no cutoff points and no decent loops.

Considering it can take literal years for changes to come to blatantly unfun and broken maps I won't be holding my breath.
Also, have you considered they may have been referring to a dev stream Cote was on and just worded it poorly?

Because the idea that it IS a square. You as a killer have to corral and anticipate the survivor. Break walks before a chase and cut them off. It's not that hard even for a M1. And I'm not talking about holes to drop down. There are holes to go up on 2nd floor as well. There's a courtyard to cut the whole building in half. A Killer has a faster speed than survivors. Use perks that cut down terror radius. Perks that stall gen speed. The problems aren't problems until the gamer makes them problems. Use Bloodlust to your advantage.

Killers are only slightly faster than survivors. The difference being 0.4 or 0.6 m/s. It can take minutes to chase someone down the halls simply due the small amount of distance you make each second.

My point stands. A dev enters a thread, ignores the point the OP made and calls out a commenter about misinformation and leaves. The classics "We're listening to/Taking note of complaints." Has been said time and time again, most recently it was regarding Billy's horrible addons. It appears they decided we have no idea what we're talking about because surprise surprise the horrid addons are being shipped to live servers.

Thats not completely true, peanits srated in a thread that theyre going to look at the add ons but theyd be updated in a different patch since they dont havd time to rework them before mid chapter

The only time I enjoyed that map was one time I was nurse and used that funny glitch to go to the other side of the exit gate and waited for the survivors to get all gens done. I legit waited a couple of minutes for them, and then the expressions I get when they see me there, were priceless. They were so confused indeed. Nodded at me, tbagged and escaped, and of course I escaped the map with them.

It's very confusing why they do this. They make a PTB and then still ship garbage to live. People can say it's to find bugs but every update introduces a plethora of them anyways.
Their track record on fixing things that are garbage is not good. I won't be holding my breath that we'll see the addons being changed any time soon.

An OoO team used the free premonition pretty good against me as wraith. You can avoid the blobs by blinking precisely, but it's another annoying deadzone, i agree. It's not all of them tho.

There are plenty of decent loops if you take the time to actually learn them. Additionally, Midwich is made to be a stealth map like every other indoor map.

Yeah but they did update billy and said they were going to take another look at the add ons. Not sure how much you know about coding but it should seem fairly obvious that tweaking numbers to adjust the overheat mechanic is fairly simple and straight forward while redesiging add ons, even 1 add on, would take considerably longer. So the ptb did its job, they adjusted billy and noted the add on issue. What were you expecting exactly? Had they released billy the way he was in ptb id agree with you

You are indeed correct that tweaking numbers is easy. Which is exactly why it's so ridiculous when those tweaks aren't quickly put into the ptb for testing before going live.

To be honest with you I was expecting the devs to understand the game enough to not even try to release addons as bad as they did.
How about delay releasing the patch until they've managed to come up with better solutions? How about tweaking the numbers to at least make the meme addon a funny meme addon? Anything.

I dominated on it. Survivors couldnt find gens so they went slow. Makes a change from rotten fields insta-gens I guess.
Players hate being so close yet so far from onjectives. As survivor you see a hooked survivors aura 10m away through a wall, but you need to walk around for 30m to get there. Likewise as killer you hear a survivor on a gen just 8m away through the wall but its a 30m walk down 2 halls before you can get there. Midwich, hawkins, and the haddonfield and badham long fences all provoke this feeling. Players on both sides find it a little stressful and annoying. I hope the map designers finally take this into consideration in the future.
That said I would still take midwich over hawkins which is an absolute abomination of a map. Hawkins and rotten fields, the two worst maps in the game and coincidentally the two that are the most one sided, with hawkins being the most dangerous and rotten fields being the safest in the latest stats we had.

No offense, but you guys "taking note of feedback" is kind of like a used car salesman "taking note of how long he rolls back the mileage meter". It's hard to believe it's genuine with how you guys do things.

Trying to get a save is like finding the needle in a haystack. Seriously, love the map but by the time I have found a way up or down my fellow surv is in second stage or, dead. Have not attempted as a killer as just know I may as well open the gates for them and send them off with a nod. -.- (as been lucky enough not to get that map as a killer yet. But, you get what I mean).

There's such an easy fix for this map. Courtyard had 4 entrances to 1st floor and 2 ramps leading to second floor. It would be like the lodge on ormond or the temple of purgation.

There's actually not, they're very basic loops and they are very few and far between. Not to mention the fact that stealth is extremely survivor sided in DBD, what with killers being completely unable to hear anything or have any form of environmental que, or the fact that Midwich lends itself poorly as a stealth map given that it has long stretches of absolute nothingness. I don't know if you've ever played as Ghostface, Wraith or Pig in Midwich, but they are a good test of the stealth potential of a map, and they aren't good in that map.

You know, if you’ve taken note of the feedback on such an annoying issue that many people are up in arms over, could you do what any competent dev team does and, you know... tell us that?
Unless, of course, you haven’t actually taken note of the feedback and are lying yourselves, which given BHVR’s track record I am more likely to believe.
