Dead by Daylight Issues (Feedback)
This isn't me sh*t posting without any explanations. All the things I'm going to list are things that personally damage my experience with DBD and I feel that other people may feel the same way. Only reason I'm posting this discussion is because I'm passionate about DBD and still think there's hope for a perfect experience in dbd. If any developers/employees from BHVR are reading this, I hope that you know your amazing work hasn't gone unnoticed and just because this post lists a lot of issues in the game, doesn't mean that we don't appreciate all that you do for the community. Keep up the good work!
Auras
First point, which is the most obvious issue currently in the game are the auras. They are too thin, detailed and dim. If a player is too far away, their aura is just not visible enough. This affects gameplay for both survivors and killers. Not to mention, it's affecting colorblind players immensely.
For me at least, reverting to the old aura system would be sufficient but devs should listen to the community and see which other changes should be made to ultimately make a better, refined system in the future.
LEATHERFACE
Second issue being Leatherface. The way I see it, devs wanted to buff LF so that it would reduce the camping (My own claim, not sure if this is true). Although this might work for some killers (players), most of the time, people still camp, slug, tunnel because it's their natural way of playing the game and a buff will only make it easier for them. The camping issue for LF is that he's got an insta down ability that can affect multiple survivors at once. This ability needs to be nerfed or changed.
A good example is Oni. If he gets his rage ability and camps someone, you can just wait it out until their power is gone and the killer can't inflict dying state onto multiple people at once. After the rage ability is over, you can try and save or even trade places which is more forgiving. Whereas LF has a permanent dying state ability that he can trigger at any time.
Also, a big issue is that the LF's ability requires no skill to down someone now. I played a game where I was about 15 meters away from LF and because they used stacks, they caught up to me and downed me with no skill. There were no pallets or vaults nearby so I couldn't really try to mind game.
FLASHLIGHTS
I'm not sure if it's a bug or an intended change but flashlights now point in a slightly different direction (or from a different position) when using them. This for me has affected my gameplay slightly as I like to try and flashlight save survivors as much as possible (If I find flashlights in chests).
The issue isn't really the fact that I have to adapt to this new bug/change, but the fact that I seem to be having less of a success rate because of it. It feels clunky now compared to how it was before. This is just food for thought. If it's a bug and is bound to be fixed them my mind is at ease. If it was added intentionally, then maybe consider slightly changing and improving the mechanic. (Not sure how other people feel about this bug/change).
BUGS & ROADMAP
With every update comes a lot of bugs. Some of the more serious bugs are fixed straight away but others are kept in the game until next patch, which could either be 1 month and a half or even 3 months depending on the severity of the bugs.
An example is the movement anchor/pivot point when you get unhooked (Been in the game for a while now). You start to rotate your model from a different point, which creates a big disadvantage for the survivor. I know it can be fixed by interacting with something in the world but it's still a bug and should be fixed.
I feel like if the PTB's were a bit earlier and if the devs had more time after the PTB to find and fix the bugs on the PTB, we'd get a much smoother Live version update. I know some bugs can be quite painful to fix and they can take up a lot of time but personally, I'd prefer to have a stable game than to have constant content updates. Maybe next roadmap should have a 3 month period (or more) to just fix some of the issues in the game.
At the end of the day, BHVR is like any other company and they have limitations, time constraints, limited resources/devs due to the game being so big and them having to focus on so many things all at once (Not to mention COVID-19 and how that's affected the work flow), so of course the game's gonna have some bumps, which is why the roadmap for this year should change slightly due to these problems. Instead of sticking to the 3 month to 3 month updates, maybe ease that timeline a bit so the devs can have the proper time to deliver solid updates.
INDOOR MAPS
The reason indoor maps are in this list is because of how different they play out compared to outdoor maps. Indoor maps, you have to rely more on pallet loops rather than the normal T or L walls that we're used to in outdoor maps. This is a huge problem because pallet loops are very unsafe and as soon as the pallet is used, that part of the map is useless and almost like a dead end for the survivors. The indoor hospital map has some windows and loops that can be mind gamed but they're not as safe as the outdoor map ones.
To a certain extent, I get that loops shouldn't be too OP but indoor maps like the Underground Complex (Stranger Things map) has almost no good loops that survivors can mind game. This issue is more of a discussion to think about. I can still play indoor maps and have fun to an extent but if some of the general loops were added to the indoor maps, I'd have a lot more fun.
PLEASE READ THIS BIT ALSO!
Dead by Daylight is a game I'm very passionate about and love to play, even with bugs/issues that sometimes affect my gameplay. Some of these points mentioned above are issues that in my opinion should be looked at and I think other players will agree. I hope that whoever has read this can share their opinions and raise awareness for the things that also affect their gameplay. As a community we should also give feedback in a critical, calm and respected way as BHVR are trying their best to manage the game, especially with everything that's going on in the world right now. We need to be more understanding and patient. Not all issues are going to be fixed straight away, but just knowing that the devs are going to look into these problems should give us a sense of relief and hope.
If there are any points in this list that you might agree/disagree or have any alternatives, please do comment or post about them.
Thank you for reading! Have a great day.
